Really nice place to relax and get away from the hassle of the tourist resorts. Very friendly community, prices are reasonable and you are sure to be well relaxed after your stay here..

We spent 3 nights over Christmas at Shades and had a wonderful time. Very friendly people, secure building and grounds, very reasonably priced and excellent tasting food and beverages. Free wi-fi!

Such a lovely place! We only stayed one night in our rush to see Negril before leaving Jamaica. What a mistake! Negril is horrible and I wish we had just stayed put at Biggas!

If you want to get away from the tourist traps, and be in contact with the locals for only a fraction of the costs in the tourist-hotels, be sure to stay at Shades Cottage, where Bigga and Gwen will take excellent care of you. He will drive you anywhere (for little money) and she is a great cook. The guesthouse is basic but clean, and in the evening, after you have wathed the sunset from your porch, you can sit in Biggas bar and chat with the locals who come for a red stripe. Maybe arrange yourself a boattrip out to sea with a local fisherman, or a walk into the hills with a guide.
We were here with our 2 year old daughter, and we definitely want to go back one day.
