You have not been to the West End of Jamaica if you haven't stopped at Murphy's. Farm to table food. Great service. Chill in a hammock after your full belly.

Jerk lobster was 2 for 1so my husband and I split. Wish I had my own. Best Lobster and the mixed vegetables with callaloo is the best!

My hubby & I went there after with my parents for an early lunch. We were welcome by the most friendly gentleman, who happened to be the owner. What a wonderful experience & the food was delicious! We will definitely go again.

Delicious food, clean place, good service but a little pricy and the exchange rate for paying in USD as advertised is 20 % higher than the actual rate. Was disappointed to get even less change than the bad rate would have been. So I gave no tip.

My wife read a lot of good reviews about Murphy's West End Restaurant and went there for dinner. We arrived an hour early due to the summer time change, but Murphy was very friendly and we could place our order early. We were the first and only guests. One Red Stripe later we had delicious fresh food on our plates. The presentation of the food was excellent. I did not expect that at all. Murphy's looks like some restaurants on the keys. It's like a shed with a ingenious chef and a small shop inside. What you get is food from an upscale restaurant at a fraction of the price and a relaxed atmosphere. My wife loved her curry and I hat a superb jerk chicken. Try it! You won't regret it.

Update: Two years and 3 more visits later we have only one thing to say to the Murphy's crew: "Respect!"
It's a true secret hidden gem in the Caribbean.

Great local cuisine. Listen don't go here if you expect quick service and fine china. This ain't your place. It is real food, great food and off the beaten path. The beer is cold and the jerk is hot, there should be no complaints.

This place should be a landmark! If you are looking for the tourist version of Jamaican cuisine this may not be the spot for you. But if you are searching for authentic Jamaican food, where you can taste the freshness of the ingredients, the depth of flavor that you find in a home cooked meal but served with the presentation that you find at a 5 star restaurant, then Murphy's West End is your place. We had the chance to talk to the owner (one of the nicest, most humble people you will meet) and we could tell how hard he works to make sure everyone has a great experience at his restaurant. If you happen to be on the Cliffs (or even if you are a bit further away), Murphy's West End is well worth the trip.

Fabulous lobster and Customer service from Murphy himself ! We went two nights in a row and the amount of Lobster you get for the price is Outstanding. We stayed at a 5 star resort and nothing at our hotel came close to that Lobster at Murphy's. Quaint space but will come back for sure. I was trying to figure out how I could have Lobster for Breakfast !

It was excellent, the price is a little bit more expensive, still relatively cheap. 2 lobster dinners and lots of drinks, sides, and a desert ran about $75/8000JA.

The building is great and the seating you will find it hard to compete with. Murphy's is really trying to make their place nice.

Get reservations early if you want your choice of what's on the menu, items such as lobster could run out fast.

This restaurant caters to white tourists only but there is a shadow side. I and another expat and long time famous resort owner decided to drop in for dinner. The restaurant was filled with European tourists who stared at us with weird looks. The female host was obnoxious and discourteous and responded to our inquiry as though she was doing us a favor.. Quite shocking but revealing. Especially after I returned another time and inquired about dessert. Again the attitude and response was off putting, discourteous and confirmed my first impression. I will never eat here. They don't serve dessert. An absence of sweetness in every way.

Nice presentation which does not make forget the small portion. Even if 10% service is not charged prices are very high and they have a scandalous usd / jamaican dollar rate. Nearby Pushcart has a much greater quality/service/price ratio.

Be prepared to be surprised! When you walk up all you see is a little shack and you aren't quite sure what to think. When the food comes out you are in awe!

I highly recommend the lobster or the devil's chicken. You can oreder everything from a 1 - 10 on the heat scale. I went with a 7 on my devil's chicken. The heat was mellow at first but built up quite nicely.

I had a bite of my friends lobster and it was some of the best I have ever had. Absolutely amazing.

For of us ate with beers for under $100.

We just went there today and the owner/cook was a little late because he was bailing water out of the boat before he started work. I saw the bag of live lobster being carried in and 20 minutes later my wife was eating 2 1/2 lobsters while I had 12 jerk shrimp that was by far the best meal we have had in the last 6 years we have been coming to Negril. The 20 minutes of cooking was hardly noticed because we watched him cook the meal and hungout in the hammocks. The plates looked like a chef in a 5 star restraunt had prepared them and both my wife and I were liking our fingers as we enjoyed the fine food that had been prepared for us. I guess the best compliment I can give the food is my wife saying "she was sad when all her food was gone". We can not promote Murphy's more but you must eat there when in Negril!
