Montego Bay Outameni and Doctor's Cave Beach Excursion

Starting right from the cruise pier, your friendly English speaking guide will greet you, get you checked in and on board your waiting transportation. Then you will be on your way to Outameni Park and your fun filled day.

The Outameni Experience is a combination of interactive show, music, dance, art, film and drama that depicts the eras of Jamaican culture and captures the vibrant spirit of the Jamaican people. It also shows how the different nations influenced and made Jamaica what it is today-Spanish, African, Taino, English, Indian and Chinese.

Spread out over 5 acres of land, your journey through the Outameni Experience takes approximately 90 minutes. It is the creation of a Jamaican tourism development company and film producer Lennie Little-White.

After your experience learning about the people, culture and history of the island, you will move on for some quality beach time. Your guide will take you to the best of the best, Doctor’s Cave Beach. It is also known as Drs. Cave Bathing Club, it is the premier beach that offers everything.

This gorgeous stretch of beach was once owned by Dr. McCatty who would swim here with his friends who were also medical doctors. The entrance to the beach was accessed through a small cave and thus the name. Dr. McCatty donated the beach property in 1906 to found the Bathing Club. Then in the 1920’s, Sir Herbert Barker, a famous British Osteopath visited here and claimed the waters had incredible healing abilities. Now is your chance to see for yourself!

There are great facilities such as clean changing rooms, showers and restrooms. The gift shop also offers an internet café, a logo shop a convenience items shop. Beach chairs, floats and umbrellas can be rented (approximately $6.00usd each). The beach is raked and manicured every morning and the translucent waters which the doctors noted as beneficial and invigorating have not changed.

The new "Groovy Grouper" Beach Bar and Grill also provide a great variety of meals and drinks. Doctor's Cave is also a part of the Montego Bay Marine Park which has a wide variety of marine life among the coral reefs so bring your snorkel gear.

After relaxing time at Doctor Cave Beach, it is a short ride back to your Montego Bay cruise pier or you can choose, you can be dropped off at the main strip of Montego Bay for some additional shopping, bars, restaurants, etc. and make your way back to the ship at your own leisure and expense.
