I have very mixed feelings about this hospital.
The doctors and nurses are pretty great, and will certainly treat you right. And although there's generally a wait to be seen by a doctor, it's mainly because there's soooooooo many patients that need to be seen.
On the other hand, the hospital is severely underfunded, and in desperate need of equipment and a deep deep clean.
Overall it's an ok hospital and could be made great with some money.

If you're looking for a hospital to ignore you, put off important surgeris so you can slowly die from your illness, lose your cancer results and treatment docket leading to your death or to charge you for exams then charge you again for requesting said exams for your personal records you have come to the right hospital. Kingston Public Hospital - Walk in sick, leave dead.

Never a patient at the hospital, thankfully, but I've had cause to be on the wards at times. Some of the doctors and nurses are in DIRE NEED of trainingpeople training that is. Customer service is very very poor.

It's sad but many cannot do any better than to go to this death trap where doctor and nurses are abusive and totally disrespectful to patients. Certainly, these medical professionals would not be so dismissive if dealing with patients in a private medical facility. The wards are absolutely filthy and no human should experience the deplorable conditions at a facility where top medical care is expected. If a patient leaves there alive and their health continues to improve then they should thank their lucky stars that God has saved them them KPH's hell hole! International funding agencies should demand to see improvement at the hospital before making any further donations since previous donations is not visible anywhere in this broken down hospital and in patient care improvements.

Kph is a good hospital in my perspective, just don't like the fact that you have to wait almost 15 hours to get through, and not to mention some of the nurses has too much attitude and the porters are very lazy, all they do is sit and text all day. Kph states that is not a who come first get through basis, I Totally Understand Why They Said So, But Sometimes The Don't got no patients with that severity so they should make the citizen who came there first get through a little faster, there are a lot of doctors nurses there, shouldn't take a million years, but I'm glad they manage to deal with my situation before it worsen. Thank Uu Guys.

Largest hospital in the English speaking Caribbean and type A quality of resources. Financial constraints are always a limiting factor but the doctors and nurses who work here make the best with what's available. Premier teaching institution for health care workers and the best at trauma management in Jamaica.

I would not take my dog to this hospital..nurses told my dad if he complained about the treatment they would leave him for last. he could not help himself. doctors did not call the family before he died when we went there he was already moved to the morgue. they tried to cover what they did .. taking family for idiots. this happened on male medical ward in 2014. I went as far as the region with my complaint and to date i get the run around and promises they will have meetings in 2 weeks since 2017. to date no response

Kph is the foremost trauma center in the Caribbean, the 3rd oldest running hospital in the Americas and the best training hospital in Jamaica hands down. It's not perfect, nor is it in the most glamorous of surroundings but the talent here is second to none.

This is certainly not a place to go when you have an emergency. The place is also a mess, which I believe can certainly be rectified. Building and machines need to be updated. Simple things like an electronic hand sanitizer should be at this location. I'm all about volunteering for a good cause. as long as it will be properly used.

KPH is a hospital with exceptional staff.

It operates at greater than 100% capacity which is the source of its inefficiencies. However this is a chronic problem being faced with most hospitals within the region.

The KPH though, despite this, offers exceptional medical care.

Busiest full service hospital in Jamaica. Visiting hours are 11AM to 12 noon and 4:30PM to 6PM. Emergency room is 24 hours. Visitors may be asked to allow security to inspect handbags and may go through a detector or be patted down.

The wait even in an emergency is ridiculous. The nurses don't care nor are they professional. They think their duty is to just sit and watch. The doctors are overwhelmed. The facility is dirty and not maintained properly. This is supposed to be one of the best hospitals in the Caribbean, how can they make that claim.
