One of the best place to do your hair.
I agree with the other comments that visited this salon, the professionalism is nonexistent. I give a 1 star for my personal experience but 5 for the retwist I seen in the salon. I traveled 3 hours by bus, woke up at 4 am to make sure I made my appointment on time. The owner or manager (Turdy) walked in an 1 hour late. I expected it but I was still disappointed. The salon was packed with women with locs they do a great job styling and re twisting. Unfortunately, I was getting permanent loc extensions. I was worried about the work they do because the website, videos and social media photos are either old or was copied from other webs. Once I sat in her chair she asked the price I was quoted. Once I shared the price with her she quoted me an additional 230 USD. I was told “Kingston was full of trickery”, so I kinda expected a quick one pulled somewhere when dealing with the Pulse salon. My original appointment was for the Montego Bay salon but was told half way through the week long interaction that they were booked a month out.I was told to order my own hair because the salon didn’t have my color of hair and the idea was to to dye the hair once installed. I now know color should not be done on new locs. The owner proceeds to tell me it’s against policy (like i want to carry a box of hair from Seattle to Jamaica.) she contacted the woman that quoted me the price and the woman cleared it up but only because I communicated with her through email and still had the email as proof. Turdy was clearly upset about it saying, “thats why they shouldn’t be communicating by email”. Turdy did one half of my head another lady did the other. As time goes on you can really tell the difference Once my hair was finished Turdy left immediately. Once i got to the counter to pay the young lady quote me a extra $60USD. I left with no instructions on how to care for my hair. One side is loose, unraveling and bending the other side is stiff. The parts are not the same size. I was told when I come back she would add more hair. So, Im supposed to come to Kingston from Seattle to get a retwist? My bus left at 7 and Turdy had me out by 4ish, so there was plenty of time to assure the hair was done right. 7 bags of hair instead of the of 11 or 12 bags were used, which she said was needed, I brought 10 with me. I foresee problems in the future and will probably taken them down because I don’t want problems with how my locs look in the future. This service has been offered since at least 2012, so I figured Turdy would have the service down by now. Needless to say, a style or retwist is a go here. Permanent Loc extensions (their most expensive service) and/or Out of towners proceed with extreme caution
The stylists do good work and the place is professionally managed.
Sometimes the ladies talk excessive over my head.. but the job is always well done.
They know their craft..keep up the the good my friends..
Great people, excellent service.it was just a lil slow when I got there but it was a good atmosphere, I did not feel uncomfortable at all
Place is quaint. Staff is friendly and helpful and aslo very knowledgeable. They tend to ask how your hair feels during styling to make sure you're as comfortable as possible
I gave 2 stars because my havana twists look great, it didn't take all day and my stylist was knowledgeable and very personable (even to other staff, I think her name was Maren). I expected a bit more from a salon that caters to natural hair though, especially at their price point. I have natural hair and specifically use wide tooth combs and natural products and I guess I expected the same considering they claim to know a lot about natural hair there.
I was taken directly to have my hair washed (before my stylist actually arrived) and that was ok although I wasn't asked about any product preferences (not that they had anything but bulk shampoo and conditioner) and when she put the conditioner in my hair she raked it with what was surely not a wide tooth comb (quarter of mi hair gone). Then they raked through my hair with a blow dryer with no heat protectant or moisturiser (all their options were Blue Magic etc in the end, she did actually put in a blend of castor oil and something else when I wasn't comfortable with the products I was shown). I went for a consultation a week before and discussed having my hair trimmed and was advised to do it on the day and to bring x packs of hair. The stylist explained it wasn't actually recommendable to trim right before braiding and that I would need way more packs than suggested. I had to trim anyway and the salon ordered more packs of hair on my account. It was more expensive than anticipated but I'm not upset about the money as much as just the different stories from different people.
TL;DR: It's an okay, efficient salon but don't expect any especially good treatment of loose natural hair via tools or products. Your hair will still come out looking great but you could probably have gotten a great style at a cheaper place too.
Pro-tip: Try to talk to the stylist about what is necessary for your hair before the appointment (type of hair, etc.)
Great stylists, hair gets done quickly; decent environment, great service
I am giving this location 3 stars simply because they do hair well. They lost 2 stars because the customer service is lacking. As a paying customer when I walk into an establishment to receive services I hope to have a warm welcome. Each time i have went in to Jus Natural this was not the case. I swore to myself after the first two times that I felt uncomfortable that I would not return. I was desperate on the third occasion to get my hair done to attend my grandmothers funeral. Yet again the customer service was poor. This time I got up and left. I did speak with one of the stylist and she was apologetic. For that I am grateful. However, ownership needs to get on top of their staff in terms of customer service skills. I am sure this salon has their regular customers and I wish them well. However, to travel from the states into Jamaica to deal with that. No thanks.
I will like to say a big thank you to jus natrualhair studio for styling my hair so nicely and for the caring staff that i met thanks again will come again in my visit
My stylist is Taniesha but I've had others do my hair and always leave the salon satisfied. They know natural hair.
Terrible. This review is for the Kingston branch I have had only good experiences with the Mobay branch. Firstly nothing is worse than getting your hair done and listening to staff bicker. My hair was being done in what is apparently the back room because the staff kept coming in to eat lunch, and I had to sit and listen to 3 women complaining and getting upset about their pay and talking bad about there employers. The blow dryer gave out and because it was being held together by duct tape which later on when I was brought back into the main area was the issue with all blow driers. Off the two standing driers, only one with an elastic around it works. And only one side of it works. So there is only 1/2 of a standing drier. I showed up 30 mins early for my appointment to do twist outs for an event the same afternoon, twist outs require fulll drying to be done properly. My stylit spent half her time trying to convince me to not pull them out even though I explained that was not an option, I was paying them not begging and when making the appointment they know what style you will do so if they couldn't accommodate me they should have just said so. With only half my hair barely dry, another stylist with a sour look on her face and a waiting client called my stylist to remove me. Before half an hour I was left with a head of fuzz because I couldn't do the event with damn limp twists. I wont be going to the Kingston branch ever again.
Excellent place to get your hair done
Very unprofessional, very poor customer service & had to wait 3 hours over my appointment.
Finally a Spa that suits my nail needsNaturally looking nails done in a very professional setting with courteous and friendly staff.
Excellent service. Friendly staff. Leaves you totally satisfied
Cool spot, still at Pulse, and focusses solely on natural hair. It is a tad pricey tho. By appointment
