Great knowledgeable tour guide, very interesting and informative tour and lovely lunch! Anybody with an interest in Jamaica's history will have a great time!
Its a good experience
Interesting day trip from Ocho Rios. It was about an hour and a half bus trip back towards Montego Bay - the last half hour is pretty much into the jungle. The driver did a good job of talking about Jamaica and giving some insights into how the average Jamaican lives. When we finally arrived at the distillery, we were offered some delicious rum punch while we waited for another tour group to arrive. The tour started in a small building where the guide went over the history of Jamaica, the history and "how to" of rum making and finally the history of the plantation - very enlightening. The tour was interesting - a bit shorter than I expected - most of the facilities are "quasi-outdoors" which is definitely different that whiskey distilleries or breweries that I have seen, followed by a tasting of the 2 types of rum they make onsite. We had lunch on the deck of the plantation house - if I had a complaint, it would be the lunch - very basic - jerk chicken, fried bread and a glass of water. It was an enjoyable outing and I woiuld recommend it to others.
Nice Tour with Kevin from Sunbreak Tours Jamaica
Authentic tour - you can see the original wooden fermenting vats, and see the different steps in the process up close. Knowledgeable and friendly guide and staff.
Too far of the road but its not that bad
Rum tasting was great, but the bottles you bring home taste way different.
It's a very beautiful estate especially the great house.
