Your fun day will begin right outside the cruise ship terminal where your friendly, English speaking guide will be waiting for you. As you head out along the coastal road, your guide will fill you in on the details and plan for the day.
The road will turn from the coastline up to the mountains of St. Ann. The small village of Nine Miles is the birth place of the King of Reggae, the legendary Bob Marley. This is also the location of his final resting place. The person who greets you and shows you around the village is either a member of his family or a close friend.
They will lead you on a guide tour of his childhood home and you will also see his mausoleum. They will show you Mt. Zion, the famous rock when he spent many hours gazing over the valley. You will hear stories, learn interesting information and firsthand accounts about the music icon.
After leaving Nine Miles, you will stop for lunch where you can try some local cuisine. A trip to Jamaica should include sampling some authentic jerk style chicken or pork. You will get to enjoy a tasty meal prepared by a master Jamaican chef. The menu consists of one main (1/4 lb Jerk Pork or 1/4 lb Jerk Chicken) with one side dish (Cornmeal festival, soup, bread, rice & peas, sweet potato, roast yam or roast breadfruit). Beverage choice - 1 red stripe beer or a soft drink.
The next stop will be some shopping time where you can find some great duty free deals at Taj Mahal and Soni's Plaza. You can find everything from fine jewelry to souvenirs to Jamaican hand-crafted items. Afterwards, enjoy Jamaica's No. 1 attraction, Dunn's River Falls. You will climb this amazing work of Mother Nature. Scale the 600 ft limestone rock formation as water cascades past between your feet and splashes into the ocean below. Definitely an experience of a lifetime!
The transportation will take you back to your cruise ship terminal at the end of your excursion.
