I glanced over quite a few other reviews concerning Champion Supermarket and I have found that many of them are based on the fact the there are, what is believed to be, good pricing and good inventory.
Let me begin by saying that running a supermarket, or any business for that matter, has a lot more to do with pricing and inventory. I can honestly say that I have been in Champion more than a few times over the past few years. In my experience they have a lot of improvement to do.
First and foremost, customer service is priority in any business. Champion lacks this vital characteristic. When shopping at Champion the employees do not greet you, do not have a smile on their face nor do they thank you for shopping there and invite you to come again. I should not be surprised though as they have no model to pattern after. The Chinese who own the store should lead the way in this practice. After all, it is the people who spend their money there that make them successful and that makes it possible for their employees to financially support their families. I have to wonder how a group of people who come from another country who are graced with entry into someone else is country do not show the citizens any respect.
Furthermore, anyone who has ever shopped at Champion knows that they are notorious for extremely long lines and long wait times. I remember being in this store on an occasion such as that and I asked the Chinese if they were going to open another line and he responded by simply reply “No.” This action, or should I say non-action, exhibited to me that they truly have no interest in their customers they just want the money.
They have no respect for the people who patronize their store. They need to realize that there are, in fact, other stores that people can go to but that people chose to come to their store. That in itself should make them respect the public that they serve. Lastly, I could never understand why they would need to check the receipt at the door when people are walking out with groceries that are bagged. If they are worried about theft then this practice is irrational as they have cameras throughout the store.
Also, they don’t even trust their own employees because whenever an item needs to be voided the Chinese have to come and void the item themselves. The cashiers should have the ability to do so. I remember being a cashier myself as a teenager and having the ability to void. Jamaicans need to understand and realize that these people have no respect for them. It is time for Jamaicans to come together and start their own businesses in their own country. Jamaicans need to stop relying on other people for their economic health. At least if they are going to allow foreign people in the country they should be of African descent.

Always enjoy shopping at champion supermarket I think I get value for money. I like the idea that the price on the shelf is what you pay at the checkout. Wonderful!!!

Great supermarket, wide range of goods to choose from, friendly staff lovely cashiers.. they seem happy at their job. I would recommend it to shoppers ..their cakes are really delicious too.

Prices are relatively low but the store could use some work. AC would be good because the chocolates that are at the cashier's stations are always melting. Along with some general tidying up it should be looking better.

Clean, affordable, great customer service, even the security guards are nice. My supermarket of choice in ocho rios! Oh and the tax is already added to the shelf pricing, so no surprises at the checkout counter!

I am in Ochi right now along with my entire family of sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. We shopped here twice so far and we love it. It’s not like the market where they will change the price on you because you come from Abroad. We plan on shopping here again until we leave Jamaica.

Great variety and fast checkout but they recently opened so they are still in the adjustment phase. They have a branch in Ocho Rios which is amazing so i am sure they will continue to improve to get to that stage of overall efficiency.

One great place to go to almost like progressive foods but they have more things that reach the people in the area. They have more for all to go and even cheaper the the famous progressive. Oh and I get bags to buy you won't be leaving with your goods in your hand 😊😋🤣

It a good shopping environment, it is spacious, clean and the staff is helpful and courteous. They stock a wide variety whatever your shopping for from household items to food/liquor even school and office supplies, it's the definition of one stop shop.

Although it's a large grocery store, you can get out in a decent time frame if you don't pick the busiest days and times to go. Good variety, wide aisles so you don't feel claustrophobic lol. I took off a star as it's a little dark, could do with a little more lighting

Champion Supermarket has a good supply of imported goods and native items. The staff are friendly, they still have "bag boys" who carry your items out to your car. I love that. Will always shop here on my holidays.

It is a pleasure to write this review becos staff there must have been trained to lookout for customers needing help. Was so happy when a junior staff came and helped. Then on leaving, the chinese cashier called me back to hand me my change I had forgotten. Was all a pleasant experience.
