The CWC is a non-profit organization created by and consisting of Canadian women living in Jamaica, either permanently or temporarily, who connect to acquaint other Canadian female newcomers with local culture, organize social events and various excursions, and most importantly, raise money for various causes such as buying materials for schools that are in dire need of supplies. Our fundraising events include an annual spring fashion show and Christmas bazaar. We also organize visits to various orphanages and children’s hospitals, providing gifts for the children of those institutions, all of whom are in need.
Internally, CWC members plan and enjoy various social events throughout the year. We organize an annual trip to Appleton Estate where we experience a journey through time to learn about the history of rum, get an inside look at how rum is made and, of course, sample the range of Jamaica rums. CWC members also celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving with a delicious, traditional turkey feast (the High Commissioner of Canada and his wife generously open their home to us for the occasion). Then, later in the year, in the spirit of the holidays, one of our members hosts the group for our famous annual Christmas potluck.
If you are a Canadian living in Jamaica, CWC welcomes you. Join us to make some new friends and make a difference.
