Impeccable service and outstanding food. A really immaculate setting for a special meal.

This very upscale hotel is well in good if you are of an older class. Things look elegant and if you're lucky enough to have an ocean view then it's easy to ignore it's flaws.
- There is a fair amount of road noise if you're in the wrong room or on their terrace.
- Our room had two doors, one was "permanently locked" but we found it to be just the opposite. Apparently house keeping forgot to lock it after. Beds were a little more firm than that if an average hotel stay.
- We had two bathrooms in our unit. Both had water damage and one was filled with a small pile of dead ants.
+ The breakfast was wonderful with many options but the juice had lots of sugar and when I asked for coffee I got tea :(
+ The concierge was helpful. When we asked where to go for dinner they made it sound like since we didn't think to make a reservation we were out of luck. They made last minute reservations for us and called us a taxi.
+ The building is beautiful and well maintained.
I wouldn't stay here again. I am not the target demographic. I would have rather stayed and a smaller less grade hotel down the mountain. I don't feel like I get the best of the city or anything authentic from this hotel. Lovely as it is, it's far too much to spend unless you're going to stay here and use the pool, spa, garden, and look down on the sea all day.response / report this review -

Amazing views and great service. That being said, considering the prices of this upscale palace, food isn't amazing, Wi-Fi is not up to current standards, and everything lacks of a certain extra degree of finesse (such as complementary water in hot days for example).
The hotel and sights are absolutely stunning, but consider eating and drinking elsewhere in Taormina.response / report this review -

Great service, beautiful rooms (many with balconies, jacuzzis, and other accoutrements), and a first-class location that is secluded enough to enjoy unrivaled views and little road noise but close enough to downtown to encourage exploration of the city. The restaurants' views are unrivaled and are reason enough to make reservations (although the food is nothing special).

Room need refurbished, service was week - we asked to change the mattress for a king size, they say "yes yes" but didn't change. even the concierge wasn't that helpful. We ask a guide for hiking Etna. We got a driver who barely spoke English that wanted to take us with his Jeep and back.

Luxury 6 star hotel just adjacent to Taormina's old town. The location is unbeatable - sprawling ocean views one way and duck straight into the old town the other! Fantastic breakfast too.

The hotel is wonderful and right at the heart of historic Taormina, with a 1 min walk to get to the town centre. Rooms are all identical with ocean views. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful gardens, and the breakfast terrace overlooks the garden and the ocean. Service is very friendly and helpful. Everything works and is clean. The only negatives are the long walk from reception to room and small pool area. Nevertheless, you'll have a wonderful time here.

This hotel is unique in many ways, but it is definitely not a five star resort--it is a 4 star resort. As one example, the spa facility that they boast is non-existent (there is one person that gives massages in a regular guest room using a regular bed). The service is not up to par with that of a 5 start resort either. We choose the hotel based on recommendations by American express (Fine Hotels and Resorts program) and the fact that it was part of the 5 star Alliance of hotels--it should not be on those lists. Nonetheless, We did enjoy our stay there. The fact that the hotel was converted from a 15th century monastery should give you some insight as to what you should expect. The hotel is very quite and extremely secluded, and walking within its halls gives you a strong sense of the spirituality for which the property was used hundreds of years ago. Beautiful religious paintings and sculptures adorn the quite rooms and hallways. The views of the water and hills are phenomenal. If you are looking for a hotel at which to party, or you plan to travel with a large crowd, this hotel is absolutely not appropriate for you. I also do not recommend this hotel if you are traveling with children under 14. However, if you are looking for a wonderful getaway resort with your significant other, it is a good choice. If you are looking for 5 star retreat, this is not the hotel for you.
