The most beautiful balkony to enjoy the sunset.
Very nice landlord.

Nice B&B with a fantastic view over the Mediterranean, especially at sunset. The hosts are very friendly and speak some English. Nice walks on narrow footpath, in the city of Castellabate.

Bell'hotel (location del film "Benvenuti al Sud"). Meravigliosa la vista sul mare. Gentilissimo il personale (soprattutto la sempre sorridente Ilenia). La colazione si paga a parte ma vale tutti i 5 euro del suo costo.

Residenza da Favola con Vista Spettacolare. Posizione comoda per visitare uno dei borghi più belli d'Italia. Camera pulita e colazione di qualità. Massima disponibilità da parte dei proprietari.

Senza dubbio bellissima. Una residenza che lascia poco spazio alle critiche. Le stanze sono ampie e pulite. I servizi di base come il Wi-Fi alle volte non vanno ma la vista spettacolare fa dimenticare qualsiasi cosa. Il proprietario, una persona disponibile e a modo.

Based on the raving reviews we read about Residenza d’epoca Tamara, we booked a “residence” of 2 rooms/ 2 bathrooms, kitchen for 8 nights. I say “residence” because it has apparently a different treatment than a hotel-type arrangement. Little did we know how little it is offered and how little it is disclosed! And also little did we know about how the wonderful, charming Ciro – manager and possibly co-owner of Tamara can change into a tough and rough host. To begin with, we were not advised that to get to this residence, one has to climb and climb and climb on steep steps cut in the rocks. Yes, very rustic, very back to nature, but if you are over –let’s say 60 – you can collapse either on the way or at the door of your residence. I happen to be asthmatic and the first night we arrived, after not knowing what I was in for, Ciro and his brother seeing me panting found it very amusing and started to laugh. I decided to try my best and stay because the rules said the payment is not reimbursed unless cancelled 7 days in advance. Well, the rooms were clean. A set of 3 towels were provided in each room. Toilet paper was scarce – ½ a roll per room; one-inch long bar of soap was provided. We arrived late at night – not one bottle of water was in the refrigerator. For the entire time one stays in a “residence” there is no change of towels; rooms are not cleaned; trash is not removed. All this is the guest’s responsibility. On the 5th night, I had an asthma attack – ready to go to a hospital. With pills and inhaler I got over it, but next morning – after 5 nights of staying there, we decided to leave because the climbing of stairs could have been fatal for me. To be fair, next morning I gave notice that we would be moving out the following day and I asked this most charming Ciro to kindly reimburse us for the 2 nights we would not be staying. It was a matter of less than $300. The outburst of insults and rage is better not to be mentioned. He told us it was a matter of ‘principle’ since ‘the rules are the rules.’ To sum it up – Castellbate is a splendid place; Tamara is well located, but make sure you get a room with a view of the ocean – otherwise you are in a very dark place. Make sure any deal you make with Ciro is well documented and if you are over 60 and/or have any health issues I advise you seek another place. There are plenty around.

Absolutely wonderful hotel! The view of the sea is unparalleled in all of Italy! The hotel itself is very home-like and picture perfect, the prices are extremely reasonable for such a dreamlike experience. Ciro and his wife Cristina are very friendly and accommodating, and will take great care of you! Castellabate is a beautiful little commune with much to explore and very nice people. I almost don't want to tell anyone about this place so I can keep it all to myself! You will have the experience of a lifetime here, and that is an understatement!
