Spacious and well appointed rooms in the Sassi. Each room different to the others, but all with a feature - we had a wine cellar. Our friends overlooked the de-consecrated church.

We had a nice small suite which was is in the middle of the traditional Sassi. We also had a small terrace which we did not use as we were there in winter. The suite was clean and there service was excellent. We wanted to go hiking in the canyon but had no rucksack with a basket to carry our little son. The owners borrowed us their one which was also very useful in the city as Matera has many stairs. For NYE we had a Prosecco and Panettone on our room.

A delightful way to stay in Matera. You are staying in a sassi, a cave dwelling. Centrally located in town. The rooms very comfortable. bed was nice. very clean. The kitchen has your breakfast and snacks. We also had a refrigerator and 2 burner electric stove. Very civilized.

Staying in those amazing rooms puts you back in a different era A great and unique experience if you are ready to embrace it. Each room is different, but each with something great to offer. I never expected to get such an experience only from checking into a hotel. Also very friendly staff at the reception. You should however bear in mind that it is not smart to arrive in high heels or with luggage that is difficult to carry, since you will most likely need to climb quite some aincent stairs before you get to your room. Also, you should take into account that the reception might be closed at a specific time, but somebody arrives within a few minutes if you call.
