Sicily's greatest natural attraction is also its highest mountain. At approximately 3350 meters, it’s the highest active volcano. The height of its summit changes with each eruption, and over the centuries a few lava flows have reached the coast. Over 1200 square meters of Etna's surface is covered with solidified lava. Etna offers skiing in the Winter months and breathtaking hikes in the woods during the Summer. There are also a number of smaller peaks on the slopes of Etna, and some interesting caverns.

This is a spectacular park surrounding my. Etna. There's hiking, biking (both touring and MTB), and camping available in lots of places. It's a geologist's dream park, too.

Verry busy so long que for lift up and no time for truck. Likely due to back lol of visitors after 3 days of rain.
Not a lot to see at top of chair lift so I am thinking waste of time unless you do truck ride as well.
Views at base of chair lift were good and quite a lot to see so well worth a visit even without the lift ride on a clear day.

Really amazing place - visiting in the height of summer, a beautiful calm day - the volcano and the views are such a great experience. It is very pricey to get up to 10,000 ft - A trip on the ski-lift and 4x4 bus will cost around 65 Euro per person. We felt the price was worth it. When we were up there it was lovely, calm and hot weather but if it isn't a perfect day remember that it can be at least 10 degrees colder at 10,000ft than sea-level and dress accordingly.

We took the cable car up for 16 euro each at 9:00 (in the afternoon there is always some clouds) than had a hike to the crater (where all of the 4x4 buses stop) this was nice and took us 1:30 hours. At the crater there is not much to see except for a nice view of Sicily and the Etna. Don't expect to see lava. There is a route going up the Etna (up to 2900m). It is advised to take a local guide only we decided to go by ourselves. The hike up is steep but doable. Once you reach the end of the route you smell some Sulfur and there are some yellow rocks. The view is not spectacular. When we started to descent clouds appeared with rain limiting our sight to only 50 meters. This made us get lost and we spend 2 hours to find the route to the 4x4 buses. As a result we would recommend to take a guide or don't do the hike without proper gear and maps.
