Beautiful building but in need of serious modernisation. European hostels need to up their game a little- 25 euros a night with no towel and unclean bathrooms?!

The double room was big and located close to the famous Lucca city walls but they forgot to turn on the hot water so it took about 20 min of experimenting before we gave up and went down stairs to complain. Luckily, they quickly and politely fixed the problem. However, the service in beer garden was atrocious. Though they do have a good selection of craft beer, the house wine leaves a lot to be desired and the servers are not attentive. I would stay here again because overall it was good for the price but if you do stay here skip the hotel bar. Also as a note, the WiFi only works down stairs in the lobby/ restaurant.

A great hostel in a nice part of Lucca. Breakfast is included so fill up!
