The staff at Maison Clataud were helpful at first when we came to get our skis at the start of the week. Towards the end of the week it was forecast to snow so we went to the shop to change our skis for something a little wider to make the most of the conditions. The old man who ran the store refused to change our skis despite the fact we'd paid for the premium package. To make a point he brought out the widest ski he had in the store which was an armada magic j and said 'Is this what you want, are you crazy?'. I said "no" and asked for something in the region of 100/110 underfoot. He told me he had no skis of that width. This was a lie as we could see several suitable pairs hanging up behind him in the racks. It then proceeded to snow 20cm each night for the next couple of days and we got some great off piste skiing in riding the piste skis we got at the start of the week. Either they were ignorant of the snow forecast or they were just reluctant to give out wider skis for fear of damage. If this is the though case why even stock them? Overall I found the staff (mostly the elderly man) pretty unhelpful and rude which is a shame. If you are just after piste skis all week then you'll have no troubles but if you are looking for a bit more in the way of customer service and the option to change skis then I'd recommend going elsewhere. Once they have your money they become a lot less helpful.
