its a beautiful hotel. bit far from the ferry port. if you plan to walk from the ferry, note that its all steps uphill. you can take a bus from the ferry. The rooms are clean and spacious. good generous breakfast too. the gentleman at the reception was polite and nice.
I traveled to Positano with my partner, hotel was in a good location not in a city center. Exactly 400 steps away from main shopping street. If you like walking you won't mind. place dated rooms very generous in size, however very basic. Large swimming pool which if you want to use you have to wear swimming cap that you can buy by the pool. Not ideal look.
Stuff at hotel very nice and helpful, chef .if he showed up on time for breakfast you still had to wait 20-30 minutes for egg omlet which seem to be a major ask. Reception staff great , managed to arrange all sorts of stuff for us. we will visit again.
Definitely not worth the money. Toilet had an unpleasant smell the whole time and the room was outdated (like 30 years of not being renovated). Parking was 20 euros per night. The view was nice but not enough to recommend this place.
This hotel should be downrated to a 3 star hotel. Very dated, dark and poorly fitted rooms and we were advised that we required to wear swimcaps to swim in the pool and were given very poor advice from concierge. A long walk up many steps from the beach which was redeemed by the great view from the terrace
A nice spot but a little dated. The pool is a welcome feature for those who want sometime in the sun and don't want to trek to the beach. Easy to catch the local bus to get down and back up from the town.
Nice hotel, staff are friendly. Rooms are in need of a reno.
We were SCAMMED! Nothing like the advertised hotel!!!
Where to begin
This hotel is listed as a four star hotel and my girlfriend and I found it while using Expedia. The photos looked great, the rooms very nice and elegant and very worthy of a four star rating. The picture and experience we got once we arrived was anything but four stars, despite paying A LOT of money for three nights.
This place is a dump! Upon entering the hotel we were told the pool was only open from 0900 to 1800 which seemed like an early closure compared to most hotels. We were then given the "free wifi", but were told it only worked in the reception area, pool and restaurant. Side note: the wifi was not only difficult to connect to, but it was also very weak. What sort of 4 star hotel doesn't have wifi in the rooms??
As we were taken to our room, we couldn't help but notice the dirty floors, marked up walls, and moldy smell of the hallways. The room itself was fairly nice and clean but far less for what we expected it to look like when we were paying that much money. The TV lost signal every 5 minutes, and there was an ant infestation in our bathroom under the shower. After bringing the ants to the attention of the reception, they quickly got a cleaning maid to come spray and kill them in our bathroom. However, as she left we realized that she had only killed them and not cleaned the hundreds of ants up, so we had to go ask her to come back and clean up the mess.
After leaving the room excited to check out the pool, fitness room and spa we were soon greatly disappointed. The pool was beautiful but all guests are required to wear a bathing cap while swimming which costs 3.50 per cap. The fitness room advertised on the website actually does not exist. We searched and even asked the reception desk in which they responded "we don't have a fitness room". We planned on using the spa on our stay but decided not to give this institution any more of our money.
The breakfast which was included in our stay was a joke. Very sub par. We did not return after the first morning even though it was included in our price. It was that bad.
Some quick pros: The reception desk was very helpful, always cheerfully answering our questions and helping us out. The views were great but its hard not to have a good view in Positano no matter where you stay. The shower had great pressure and the A/C was great especially in the hot Italian summer.
All in all this place wasn't completely terrible but because we were expecting a 4 star experience based on the website, other advertisements, and price, we were very angry when it turned out to be just another dirty hotel. It was falsely advertised and because of that we were scammed out of a lot of money.
Visit PositanoDO NOT stay at the Hotel Royal Positano.
Out dated and confusing layout but room was large and comfortable. Front staff very helpful
Really liked our stay! Very short walk to the Bus stop and 10 mins to the beach. Beautiful views. WiFi connection not that great and only available in the lobby area.
Room was very hot at night. Location is a bit far from the the beach but very close to bus stop. Well kept and clean.
