We have been returning to Lago di Braies and the Hotel Prager Wildsee for years. It is one of our favorite mountain destinations. The combination of amazing hiking opportunities coupled with high class and old-style hospitality makes returning there annually a rite of passage.

We enjoyed our stay at this historic hotel by the lake. There are many trails behind he hotel for hiking in this part of the Dolomites. It also offers very nice dinner options at the hotel restaurant.

Be warned you maybe disappointed with your room.
I reserved a balcony room HB (€192) for our wedding anniversary, but the room they gave us was very average indeed (except the view).
It almost seemed they put us in the staff quarters. Beware room 408!! I expressed my disappointment at check out and they gave me €16 discount.
At dinner they also tried to give us a terrible table, most strange?
Lovely location though!

The room was on 4-th flor without elevator, so we needed to get up with row stairs. The balcony doors we couldn't open. Wifi works only in one room on first floor.

The scenery is gorgeous. The rooms are ok, not more than that. public showers are not in good condition. the whole place is a bit old. food is ok. service was ok too.

What about one of the most beautiful alpine lakes in Italy? Breathtaking views, both in winter and in summer, the serenity and tranquility that infuses the place is above all expectations. Can not describe it, you must go to understand. An obligation not only a pleasure, an obligation for the respect of the wonders that nature has to offer.

We only went to the restaurant, it was ok but not really good and overpriced. We have taken the deer gulash for 17.5€ and it was hard to chew and with no flavour. The gnocchi con ragu di cervo instead was very good. I would not suggest it anyway :/

A very old hotel build 125 years ago, directly overlooking the lake. With over 120 rooms. Hotel is greatly located at the lake, when booked a room overlooking the lake you'll wake up with Lake view. Friendly staff.
Rooms are a bit old fashioned as it's an old hotel.
Dinner was a bit disappointing, even though the menu looked nice. Great salad buffet, however the main dishes were served on cold plates. Presentation of the food itself was good. Only the taste was so so.
The location and view on this amazing Lake makes up for these shortcomings.response / report this review
