Well, what can you say? The food is imaginative and the service was impeccable. Not my favorite tasting menu I've had -- but was really impressed with many of the dishes.
If you're going to try a one star Michelin restaurant in Italy, this is probably a good place to go to. I wouldn't recommend doing their tasting menu, since it's kinda under wraps, but selecting things off the menu yourself, would probably run you the same amount; especially since you get to pick what you'd want to try. The only thing that this place lacks is probably some more flavor. Everything felt just a tad bit shy of being great. The place, interior wise, is definitely something to behold. It's literally made mostly of glass. It's in a bit of a difficult area to get to, but as long as you have the address, your driver shouldn't have a problem.
A very unique experience to be sure. Service was great and the food was all delicious. None of it was what I expected, but everything I tried was good.
The food was phenomenal. Chef Cristina came to greet us and presented us with baked breads (from her bakery) and a special pasta dish that we didn't order. The lamb and Parmesan ravioli looked as good and tasted even better.
Don't forget to get the dessert, egg in a pan was beautiful and delicious. The wasabi ice cream is also made in house by one of the serving staff and it blew my mind. The coffee soup with condensed silk was an amazing experience.
Overall a wonderful experience, the price for quality and amount of food we ate was beyond satisfactory.
Next time I am in Rome, I am stopping by.
The food was fine, but the experience was overly dramatized. I've eaten in SF, NYC, DC, and London at very nice 'high end' places and this is comparable but def in the lower end. However you're in italy, you should enjoy the food as the Romans and Italians. For what you pay I'm not sure the dining experience is worth it. Better to go somewhere in another big city where the service paired w the food make it worth the price. Otherwise save your money and go eat at two places in Rome w food twice as good.
Excellent food and service - recommended for something special in Rome.
this restaurant has a Michelin star, but clearly the inspector had a different meal than ours. This was the worst Michelin-starred dinner I had in my life.
We had the vegetarian tasting menu (85 EUR). Out of eight courses, only one was memorable: incredibly soft and thin ravioli oozing with liquid parmesan filling and truffel caviar on top, all bursting with flavor. A pity that my partner did not get any sauce on hers.
All of other courses were bland and uninspired. Lowlights:
*) A stocky artichoke soup. It was rather heavy, and was served with some fried artichoke leaves stuck into them. A variation on Ciarcofi alla Giudia. Unfortunately but our leaves were so thick, stringy and green in the middle so as to be inedible. Only when we got the napkins (afterward), we understood they weren't decoration.
*) The bread. First a giant unsliced, tasteless chunk of brown bread, served with a foam (why?!) of olive oil. Then another selection of breads, most of them without taste, and a raisin bread that was soggy. My local baker has better bread.
*) Poached egg with pumpkin and truffle. Yes, I get that truffles are expensive and fancy, but I just had truffle all over my ravioli, so why repeat yourself? Also, maybe put some salt onto your eggs and into the puree?
*) Speaking of salt: my dessert of fruit and vegetable had flakes of salt, which was weird, because my partner didn't get any. I inquired, and the salt was intentional: "vegetables, get it?" (no, I don't). The sorbet was actually quite nice if it wouldn't have been frozen to a solid blob of fruit juice.
*) Chocolate 70% fondant with creme pat, yoghurt (?) and pear. For me, dark chocolate and yoghurt don't go together, and the creme tasted like the generic stuff in breakfast croissants.
I appreciate that creating a gourmet experience with just vegetarian dishes is hard, and admire their efforts, but this fell short of the standard I expect when paying 85 EUR in a Michelin star restaurant.
Michelin star restaurant that serves really well presented food in a clean modern setting. The service was first class, the price was very reasonable for the quality. Our only complaint was the size of the portions but given the overall experience we would have no qualms recommending this wholeheartedly.
Poor service. Decent food.
A very talkative chef who informed us at the END of our meal that she"must leave because of how sick she was"I either appreciate her honesty, or I'm horrified by it.
I've dined on every continent, and I've never experienced this. Beware
