15€ is a bit much for what you get. Unless you are really into seeing paintings of Mary and Jesus over and over again - I wouldn’t bother. However, what is on show is beautiful and the building itself is nice to see. Maybe once all the renovations are done it’ll be the gem of Venice.
Don't bother with the audioguide, you're much better off just reading the information print outs in each room. One staff member told me it was better to start upstairs so you can move through the gallery chronologically which was definitely good advice. Much of the gallery is closed off for renovations at the moment but if the small portion already completed is anything to go by, it should be excellent once finished.
A visit here and the Guggenheim would make a perfect day to sample the city's central and ongoing contribution to the arts. Also perfectly located for an after art nibble and tipple.
An awesome collection of art linked to Venice. If you have any interest in art from the renaissance to romantic, be prepared to spend at least three hours here, with much gasping at yet another masterpiece - longer if you use the audio guide on all of the work it covers. (You can appreciate much of it without, thanks to dual Italian / English info.) My favourite bit was the juxtaposition of the 'here's what we got back from France after Napoleon naughtily stole it' pieces with the large 'we stole St Mark from Egypt and we don't care who knows it' painting.
Very interesting and varied content of icons, sculpture and paintings related to Venice. Not so much as to be overwhelming but enough to occupy the interested visitor for an afternoon. My visit was a very quiet afternoon and a haven from the crowds around St Mark's just a short walk away. Unlike the Basillica you can get up close and really study the icons and early painting
Very disappointed and bad experience. A big sign on the front and side facade of Gallerie dell'Accademia last Saturday with an image of Philip Guston made us believe there was an exhibition of this painter we'd love to see. Unfortunately we didn't saw the small text it just had ended and we discovered this after buying the 12 euro tickets (we were with a company of 5). Before we did check the website as well and it also directly showed the exhibition info of Guston. Afterwards we felt being misled. At the counter they were not willing to give our money back or to come with another solution which gave us a very unpleasant feeling. The lady at the counter however was very nice and told her this problem occured often and she wasn't allowed to return the money of tickets anymore. Apparently whe're not the only visitors who made this mistake. The next day I wrote an e-mail with my complaint to the staff, but onfortunately never received a propper answer. Treated this way doesn't bring me back next time visiting Venice, and leaves me with negative feelings about this venue.
A visit here and the Guggenheim would make a perfect day a span the city's central and ongoing contribution to the arts. Also perfectly located for an after art nibble and tipple.
You have to go there with a guide to understand what it's all about. An eye opener for sure and well worth a visit.
Went with friends to the museum and went to order our tickets. The women on the desk refused to take card despite a card reader being sat in front of her which caused us to pay in cash. She also refused to take anything but exact cash. This seems ludicrous given the size of the establishment and they should be prepared with change for people that don't have exact cash especially when turning down card.
Grand museum of historic paintings in a historic building in the heart of a historic city. Must see. Beware the schedule and renovations, ticket line can grow long at peak so plan ahead on busy days.
It's all about painting which was really amazing. I definitely recommend this place to visit
Amazing museum: a must-do if you are in Venice. Good Bosch collection.
Gallery full of Venician art and religious paintings. Well worth a visit, especially if you are interested in Catholic art.
Great collection of Renaissance art. Beautiful interiors. Absolutely mesmerising art. Could spend a whole day there.
Disappointed because the Da Vinci drawings like the Vitruvian Man were not exposed
