  An absolutely stunning work of architecture, devotional painting and church politics. This church, dedicated to the man deemed most like Jesus Christ himself, became the center of the fourth most important pilgrimage of the Middle Ages after Jerusalem, Rome and Santiago de Compostela. An absolute must see!

  Simply fantastic. The Franciskan spirit penetrates every inch of the basilika and even the City of Assisi, you literally breathe the kindness, the humility, the mercy of God - in short HIS presense.

  Simply an amazing place of peace. A truly beautiful church. Make sure to take the time to enjoy the frescoes, especially those by Giotto.

  Building and surroundings beautiful. Hard to enjoy however, when Franciscan monks are aggressive and sarcastic.
  I fully understand the need to be respectful and quiet in a sacred place but there's a difference between an adult and a two year old. Also, telling another adult to 'please put away your camera' is not the same as 'did you not see the sign, are you stupid?'Francis himself would be disappointed at the lack of basic manners and common sense.
  Not just one monk either, 5 or 6 of them with a chip on their shoulder. Thankfully they didn't say it to me but I was just shocked at their treatment of others.

  Amazing place to visit and experience. You can really feel the peace and tranquility of the space where St. Francis prayed and looked for inspiration up on the hill top. Beautiful backdrop for pictures. The views go on for miles. There's also a museum about St. Francis of Assisi in the Basilica.

  We had a lovely time walking in and around this beutiful place learning of Saint Francis of Assisi. I left there feeling great peace and found a new favorite saint.

  My idol saint. I like to visit another time. It's a wonderful place full of pigeons and peace around. The Basilica is well designed and it's luxurious
