Relatively small scale, neat and clean international airport; everything has functioned smoothly for me on two occasions with the help of the friendly staff. No automated luggage drop-off however and the price level is high (as at most airports).
Was gladly surprised by this airport. The terminal is modern and neat, with plenty of options for eating and doing last minute shopping.
Very nice airport - clean and tidy. Well communicated with Bari city centre, one of the best airports from low cost airlines depart.
We have year 2017, but there is a problem to scan electronic boarding ticket. Because they dont have any equipment to do so. I guess they've wasted too much EU money to build fancy escalators.
Quite nice place, spacious, clean, good air-conditioning, everything ran smoothly for me - maybe just a luck, or thanks to Santa Claus that could be seen in the center of polychrome wall on the upper floor. And some modern installation of course - Drop of water
The Internet login system does not work well, you expend 20 minutes to obtain it and you need to give tons of data in exchange. The toilets are not clean and do not include the sitting ring.
A long line for low cost, a security guy who brings in front low cost pax with Italian ID to skip the line, a massive chaos, around 55 minutes waiting for the security check.
This could be a great airport with a few tweaks:
- Departures drop off: they need more lanes for passengers drop off. At the moment people queue in their cars in the only lane available and they can only move once someone has been dropped off. This create long queues and it's very inconvenient.
- Departures hall: there needs to be more clarity as to where the check in zones are. There are signs on the actual check-in zones but no signage around the hall directing people to them. If one doesn't know where their dedicate zone is, they can easily spend 5 minutes working out where to go.
- Presecurity area: there are automatic gates where passengers can scan their boarding pass yet they don't seem to work. So human security is in place however they don't check the boarding passes, they just direct you to the nearest available gate. It kind of works but it's a bit messy and inconvenient with the risk of long queues forming when the airport is busy. Why not simply fix the gates?
- Airside hall: more signage indicating where gates are is badly needed. There's only two gate types, A & B, followed by a number but it's not very easy figuring out where the dedicated gate is. there are enough F&B outlets but maybe some extra vending machines wouldn't be such a bad idea
Overall the experience is quick and smooth enough and the facilities are clean
Easy access from the city of Bari via train. Very organized airport with signposts everywhere!
Worst airport ever! The screening personnel pretends not speaking English - and that's in international airport! They make their own rules what can go into carry on luggage and what not. They made the whole fuss about camera tripod making us to run back and try to check it in as a baggage. All airports we've been to in US and Europe were fine with tripod and only Bari's security personnel was trying to make a point with American travelers. The boarding area had some problems with buses - no one ever explained anything to the passengers, the workers were just standing there, socializing with each other ignoring the passengers.
