If you're at Thingvellir already, you may as well stop by and check out this church. It is very small and won't take up much of your time. But it is very quaint and peaceful here. Remember to pay for parking if you drove a car to the park!

There are two reasons to visit the place:
1) it is the border between the two tectonic plates that diverge from each other. Though nothing special to look at, it is incredible to know it - wow, you are here :)
2) it is the historical place where the Icelandic commonwealth began - you must visit it to get better understanding of the great history and mentality of Icelanders.
