Location :

Four to five hour trip around the magnificent rural area south of Vatnajökull. The trip starts at Höfn and through the countryside and our first stop is at a pristine glacier lagoon called Heinabergslón. There you can enjoy the exceptional and untouched nature at the roots of the biggest glacier in Europe. We stop there for 40-50 minutes so you can take your time to perceive the unique nature and tranquillity by the lagoon. From there we drive towards the sea, along the sandy beach of Suðurfjörur, onwards to Melatangi. On that drive we have the roaring Atlantic ocean on one hand and the calm waters of Hornafjörður on the other. We will stop at the old airport on Melatangi where you can walk around the beach and savour the scenery. Your guide will also tell you all about the history of the place and the things you see there. You will stop there for about 40-50 minutes. From there we drive back to Höfn.
