I think they could have organized the parking much closer to the actual site of the plane wreck. It’s a 45min walk through a black landscape and strong winds.
Need a walk 40 min on a airplane, but i deed nice photos :)
Don’t think the photos of the plane are taken from here, are wrong. This is just the parking, the aircraft is 4km from here!
Cool wreck but too far from parking
Its a 4km walk one way. No info or signs at starting points..just walk blindly.
Read somewhere that the 4km walk was questionably worth it. I would disagree. I enjoyed it very much. However I would suggest trying to get there before the big crowds.
We arrived at the parking about 30 minutes before sunrise. This ment that we were the first there, that the walk there was way different than the walk back (sunrise during our walk and dusk vs morning light)
So our walk wasn't boring as some people describe it.
When we got back to our car we passed a lot of people including a bus. I can imagine it not being fun if there are 50 people crawling around the plane.
The walk was 45min one way. You might think that you are almost there when you start seeing the ocean but don't be fooled.
You also only see the plane ate the very end of the walk.
You have to park in a gravel car park just off the road, then walk a good 20 mins down what looks like a straight endless gravel path. Keep going, it's well worth it when you get there!
As described it is a parking lot and there is a decent amount of space. Just be aware that it is a pretty long walk to the plane wreck but this is as close as you will get by car.
I cannot recommend doing the walk if it's windy and rainy. It was so not worth it when the weather was that bad. We got soaked and sick and we had proper rain clothing and still got soaked through 3 layers of clothing because the open field you walk through allows the wind to really hit you hard.
Great place to park for the walk to the plane.
Nothing to complain about except that visitors to the plan wreck should plan their destination as this carpark rather than the wreck so you won't miss it.
You're no longer allowed to drive to the wreck so you definitely need to park here ;)
Lots of parking available. This parking lot has access to the 3.5km hike to the DC3 plane wreck.
If you're going for the plane crash site. it's an 8km round trip trek across the desert. When we got there a large group of hooligans were jumping and walking on top of the plane. I've seen other plane crashes ..i wouldn't say this is worth it.
You can only love how everything here has a big parking lot!!!
Not about the parking obviously. 35min straight walk to an awesome black sand beach. Also a crashed and abandoned US Navy DC3 just back from the beach. It is not sign posted, but you can see it in the distance on the left near the end of the walk and walk up to it. Careful with your step, parts of the wreck are soft.
Why walk 30 min when there is a bus full of tourist who's already there, big deception its not an urbex anymore its only a tourist destination
Simplemente un parking
Long walk to the DC whatever
Five out of five. Would park again. Walk to the plane is super misleading, though. It is a lot further than you think.
