Had a great dinner here my first evening in Reykjavik. I referred the goose salad and lamb and my friend had the seafood soup and the Icelandic trout. The goose salad was my favorite dish. The meat was incredibly flavorful. I really liked the soup— it had lots of meat in it but needed more seasoning and a bit of kick. It was probably the blandest curry I’ve ever tasted. I didn’t know it was possible. My friend really enjoyed her trout. It was soft with crispy skin. My lamb was good but not exceptional. It was a very casual & relaxed atmosphere. Nice for a casual lunch date or dinner with a friend.

This is the place to go for every possible occassion I can think of. On our last day here in Iceland, we happened to check in here to eat dinner and WHAT AN AMAZING DECISION. Everything from the Viking Classic ale to the whale steak to the lamb Absolutely perfect. I couldnt compliment the chef enough. And to top it off? Service was amazing. The waiters noticed everything from us being chilly to the amount of time between serving us our meals. We ate both meals off the prethought menu. I cant suggest this place enough

Warm and cozy.
Tasteful food, tried fish soup that with their bread is definitive. Then slow cooked lamb, tender juicy and tasty.

Visited last week, was stood looking at the menu in the window when a lovely couple from the UK came out and said the food was excellent! We took their reccomendation and wasn't disappointed. Friendly staff, £££ average prices for Reykjavik, top quality food, what's not to like? :-)

Wow. This place was such an amazing experience. Tried the meat fest board with various Icelandic meats like lamb and goose and also some cheeses and sauce. Also had whale steakit just melted in my melt like butter. The best part of the meal, though, was hands down the reindeer. Seasoned and cooked just right. The serve staff was very kind and hospitable. They definitely deserve all of their five star reviews!

One of the best dining experiences I ever had! It really is a hidden gem, the food was amazingly tasty, especially the lamb. Can't recommend the cheese cake enough! A light and fluffy, but very delicious variation of a classic. I could eat 5 of them, really! Next time I visit Iceland, this will be a planned stop 100%

The "meat feast" as a starter is a perfect first course for your gourmet trip through icland. Multiple kinds of meat, some more common some more uncommon, all good.
The main dishes are good as well. Keep in mind: The meat feast for two + two main dishes are quite a lot to eat.

A little hard to get in to as they had a small upper floor and a communal downstairs. Food was amazing! A little pricey, pretty much on par with all the restaurants in Iceland. Loved the reindeer! The meat was tender and all the flavors came together so well. Lamb was also amazing and tender. So much flavor! Dessert had just the right amount of sweetness without going overboard.

Good restaurant if you are willing to try Icelandic food.

Really good. We went to Ostabúðin to have lunch. They don't accept reservations for lunch time so I was afraid of not getting a free table. However, there were no problems and there were free tables on Saturday around 1pm. We asked the waiter for recommendation because we were wondering if the Meat Feast and the Large Cheese Platter were too much for two people. We recommended us to order the small version of both. He was right and the amount was just fine.

Freshly caught plaice cooked with local cheese, sweet potato, carrots and mushrooms. Highly recommend anything freshly caught for lunch (and only offered during lunch, for dinner it's set menu)

The home baked bread was made with rosemary and thyme, which I enjoyed a lot! Reasonable price at Iceland!

This restaurant is a must for anyone visiting Iceland!!

The quality of food and friendliness of staff is worth every penny and you will savor every bite.

I've been to top restaurants all around the world and I had a very memorable meal here. I went for the three course and I don't regret it one bit. The prices are expensive, but you should expect to pay more than what you're used to if you're traveling here. Every dish that my table ordered was truly amazing.

If you want to try the local flair this is the place to do it.

An excellent and relaxed place to have a high quality dinner. Went for the 3 course menu on host's advice and was not disappointed, as it was delicious and better value than the individual options I'd picked.

Started with Whale (first time) and it was delicious- much closer to a steak than I would have believed, tender fillet slices and crispy on the outside with a lovely sauce. Lamb main course was a large portion and very juicy. I finished with a chocolate tart which didn't feel quite to the high standards of the other courses but still enjoyable.

I had intended to have wine but I started with the Einstock (white beer) and was hooked on that- I'll be searching that out again. Our bill (2 X 3 courses and 4 X Drinks) came to £140 which isn't bad for Iceland.

Finally the staff were excellent in every regard.

Excellent food. Fresh and tasty. The people in this restaurant are extremely nice and helpful. Our 2 years old son fell from his chair while we were dining there a week ago. He was bleeding from the head. 3 waitresses immediately came to help. One of them was studying medicine. The owner called an ambulance but finally took us himself to the hospital. He did not want us to pay our meal and gave us sandwiches + drinks for the hospital. I had never experienced this !!

Simply amazing. Unique food prepared fresh. The curry fish stew was so succulent and rich. Our waiter was very helpful in choosing beverages and food. Would definitely eat here again on another trip!

Very nice little restaurant with great food. The only downside may be that it all went very fast (or efficient). They are not open very late so check if you want to go, it is easy to make a reservation via the website.

This is the place for a vegetarian and a meat eater! It is a small menu so they really cook every dish to perfection.
Their seafood soup was a must! Best soup I have ever had since being on Iceland for the past 8 days, creamy and not too salty.
Their vegetarian dish was great with mashed cauliflower and cauliflower bits mixed with dill. Their beets were also amazing with carrots.
Their lamb dish was also great with roasted veggies.
For dessert we had the cheese cake (not too sweet and very light) and the chocolate cake which was total opposite. Both good but my favourite was the cheese cake.

Limited menu because they take the time to make everything perfect. Be careful of ordering too much food, a shared "starter" course and our own dinners were almost impossible to finish. Small restaurant but very friendly.

My best lunch in Iceland. They only have one main course during lunch so our group ordered the same cod fish for everyone. Two pieces of thick and fresh cod was deliciously cooked with plenty of potatoes on the side. Fish and broccoli soup was not bad too. Bread was soft and yummy!

Delicious fish soup with huge chunks of seafood! Warm rosemary bread with creamy slightly melted butterperfection. I was a single diner and they were very welcoming, plus facing the window is a great place to people watch. Also, not a bad price for the amount and quality of food, especially in Iceland.

We ordered the meat and cheese platters for dinner - plenty for two people (we actually had leftovers for breakfast). The portions of each cheese were quite large and perfect for sharing. The meats were very different than what you typically see. Not just species (horse, goose, wild game were represented) but also that most were cured and rare, almost like a meat sashimi. All of it was delicious and fairly reasonable given Iceland's prices and the quality of what was provided.
