This place had an awesome atmosphere it was buzzing right after the futbol game. We sat on the pub side and ate. So glad we did! The lamb tartare was absolutely wonderful!! We also had the beef and grilled chicken dishes that were lovely as well. The staff was very friendly and willing to help us and translated the menu for us.

Appears the only way to get what you ordered is to make a complaint. 45 min from ordering I made my first complaint and we got the starter, 45 min later I asked about the main course and 5 min later it finaly arrived. Food was good although the chef needs to learn the difference from rare and medium rare!

Was recommended by a local. The menu is only in Icelandic but the waitress helped to translate it. The lamp and beef were really good, but the door was a bit discrete. Almost gave up looking before we found it. Glad we did

Let me start by saying we are from the US. A local suggested this restaurant since we were staying close by. The food was out of this world! The menu was entirely in Icelandic but the entire waitstaff was more than pleased to explain it to us. Speaking of the staff, they were all, every last one of them exceptionally nice. My family and I cannot recommend this place more! Made my wife’s birthday one we will never forget. Thank you Mathús Garðabæjar!!!!

Best cod I have ever had! Extremely friendly staff. Waitress kindly translated the menu for us. Burger is not so bad, either. Get ready to drop $80+ on dinner. But for us it was worth it! They also carry a good selection of Icelandic brews. 🍻 Absolutely loved and recommend it!

This is a local restaurant in the high end of Reykjavik area. Nice atmosphere and reasonable prices for an Icelandic restaurant. I recommend that you book a table in advance since it is fully booked most of the time. The food is good and the service could perhaps be a bit better, bit it is ok.

Really good food. Extra childfriendly, there is a play area and the kid menu is really excellent.
Might be better to book a table especially if you have a large group or need anything specific.
