It's a welcome break on a long road. The staff was very friendly, however the food wasn't particularly nice. We had fried cod and lamb and they were swimming in oil. Side salad and fried potatoes were nice but unfortunately they were also swimming in same oil.

Owners were very friendly, opened campsite in winter because they were expecting campers to need to stay. Showers available, they say 4 but 2 of them are really for kids (or short people), and they're all in the same room behind the same door. Toilets are warm and clean. Hot water available to wash dishes outside.

This is a great little restaurant (and I almost feel like the only restaurant) near Reykholt. The owner was super nice and the burger I had was amazing! I never had bearnaise sauce but this egg topped burger was full of it and I dug right on it! So worth getting my hands dirty. Finished the whole thing too and every bite was absolutely delicious. They had a TV playing American blooper videos which made dinner even more enjoyable.

The restaurant owners were very welcoming, kind, and sociable. We had cullyflower soup and coffee, which were very delicious. We felt refreshed, an excellent location for good food!

I will start with the restaurant, as we were all but forced to eat here due to the weather and complete lack of shelter in the camping area.

The ambiance would be fine, but a ten year old took to practicing "Ode to Joy", and tempo variations there of for 10 minutes. That was fine because at least they left the radio on, so the caucauphony was blended.

I ordered the bacon burger, and my partner had the cheese burger. They were fine. Nothing special, and not really worth the wait, but acceptable. I will note that if you don't like thousand island dressing trying to be big Mac sauce, then don't order the burger here because they were swimming in it.

Now, the campground How this place merited one 5 star review, let alone the multiple that it has is beyond me.

The site itself is dull, situated behind the restaurant, with a large, unexciting hill in the background. The ground does have trees to provide a windbreak, but they really did nothing at this time of year.

The bathrooms were not disgusting, but they were not in good repair, with dripping taps, very stained sinks, toilet seats stuck to toilets with dried urine, and cheap fixtures. In an odd decision, the washer/drier is located in the woman's bathroom, so heaven forbid you be a man travelling alone.

The showers were bare bones. Two heads over a concrete floor with no real partition. I'm fine with that, having gone to many pools on our trip in Iceland, however there is only one set of showers for women and men, creating a very uncomfortable situation for those less liberal. The showers were not in good repair, with serious staining on the fixtures and floors.

I mentioned earlier that there was a lack of shelter for food prep in the camping area, which initially forced us inside to the restaurant. But in the morning when I went to make porridge I discovered the water was turned off to the dish washing sinks, and that one was completely broken with it's handle pulling off freely.

After all if this they have the audacity to charge 1500 ISK per person per night, the most of any site on our trip, despite being by far the worst. The disdain showed by the ownership towards campers is what really did them in. Had they attempted to provide the most minimal effort in any of the above criticism they would have scored slightly higher.

TL;DR. Food that is the very definition of mediocrity. A campsite that disrespects the camper and their wallet. A complete rip-off.

Amazing! Lunch that really hit the spot after a morning of sight seeing. Delicious and hearty soups. The owner came out and talked with us about the area with invaluable local knowledge.

A little bit difficult to find based on phone GPS. Look for the white sign.

Doesn't look super appealing at the first point but we really enjoyed staying there. Having the fantastic vegetable and tomato soups served by the owner.
The area offers camp ground - even tent space with glass house roof and thermal heating - as Europes biggest hot spring is close by. In addition - and that's what we used rooms in guest house and owners house are available. Kitchen and living room are friendly shared with owner and hot tub available too for guest house bookings, which is great!

Not fancy at all, but very cozy and homey. Like a grandma's kitchen. The vegetable soup was made from local ingredients and so delicious. You can get all you can eat soup, bread, and coffee for 1500 kr. A perfect stop after a day of sightseeing.
