Awesome landscape, natural surrounding ..just mesmerized us. Mr. Andrew "the manager" was very corporative. Loved everything about the hotel.

Very nice experience - room was clean, cozy and fantastic for the night's sleep. The staff was extremely friendly, and definitely embodied the 'family owned' spirit of the hotel. Dinner was delicious in the intimate dining room and was reasonably priced (for Iceland). The hot tub and sauna were perfect for a biting cold winter night and made the experience at Hotel Lækur truly special.

This was the most expensive hotel for the duration of our 9 day trip and also the most disappointing. When we went to turn on the heat the radiator wasn't working. We went to the front and they attempted to bleed the line to get it working. We were told to wait 30 minutes for it to heat up. It didn't, so we went back to the front. We were then provided with an electric space heater. When we went to turn the heat down on the space heater, we realized that the knob was missing. At this point the front office was closed (10 pm). This meant we had the option to have high heat, or no heat at all. The next morning, when we went to shower, the water never got warm and ended up being no more than a trickle. Back to the front we went. We were told it was a known problem that they had been having due to changes being made at the plant that supplies them water. We decided to stay at a hotel instead of a hostel or campground, because we wanted a private shower. We waited 10 minutes for a fix, but it never came, so I took a cold shower and went to speak to management about our experience (my friend elected to skip the cold shower). We requested a partial refund as we were not provided with what we had paid for. They were inflexible and declined to negotiate the rate of the room at all. We had debated between this hotel and Hotel River and we certainly chose the wrong one. I absolutely would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

My stay was wildly, infuriatingly disappointing.
The radiator in my room never worked, the shower produced no more than a trickle of EXTREMELY cold water, and it became apparent after speaking with the young woman at the front desk that heating has been a recurring problem. I came to learn that the owner of the establishment knowing full-well about the issue, rented me the room the previous evening. The following morning after a calm explanation of my experience, he quite angrily refused to offer a partial refund as it would, and I quote "hurt his profit margins".
I paid over $150 for a grimy ice shower, a cold room, and extremely disappointing customer service. The breakfast service offered here is
$24 per person, and pretty abysmal. The woman operating this little buffet was talking on her cellular for the 40 or so minutes I was in the dining area. She didn't so much as make eye contact once.
I wish I had photographed the condition of the showers, breakfast.
I would avoid this greedy lackluster place like The Plague.response / report this review -

Lovely little place to spend the night while exploring Iceland. Staff were very friendly. Our room was clean and tidy with a very nice look and feel. Excellent views all around the hotel. Food was tasty but like most other things in Iceland, was expensive.
The only one minor thing and a warning to other people staying here. When we stayed here at the end of September 2017, the tarmac road ends 2km before the hotel. So the last 2km is very slow and bumpy but easily passable when taking your time.response / report this review -

A lovely warm hotel in a quiet location. Perfect for a holiday base, close enough to many attractions of Iceland. Reception was so welcoming n rooms so comfortable. Birds singing and a stream flowing nearby. Horses in nearby fields. We missed dinner but breakfast was perfect. There is hot chocolate available.

This is a lovely little hotel, quite remote but that adds to its charm. The food is delicious and very high quality and the welcome very warm. Stunning views all around. Rooms clean, modern and comfy. If you like being near mountains and rivers and being out of the way, this is your place.

Nice, cosy hotel in a charming landscape. You are bright right meadows and the view on Hekla. The place is very quiet and peaceful. The staff is very friendly.

Magnifique endroit situé en pleine campagne avec des vues et des couches de soleil superbe.
