Absolutely stunning canyon.
Loved the wild river below, great observation point that lets you view the canyon in all it's glory.

The walk was in some places very slippery (ice spots) and was pretty steep. I would recommend it if you are completely out of shape or less abled.
We were there for about 1.5 hours.

There are toilets at the parking but they were all out of order

As others have noted, an awesome place to stop along the #1. Drive up the hill, park at the bottom of the hill and after a short climb your rewarded with a great view from various steel walkways. Keep pushing on and what a great finish.

This is easily one of the most spectacular places I have been in my life and while there is a lot of the world I haven't seen there is a lot I have.
This was my favorite place in Iceland I think.
The walk from the parking lot is not very long and not very steep either. 3 of 10 on the hiking difficulty scale so it is most definitely worth it.
The view from the bottom is fantastic too but up here you also get a very pretty waterfall and a view right now the canyon.

One if the highlights of our trip to Iceland. It has some absolutely gorgeous viewpoints and the walk to the top is totally worth it
