This was an amazing experience, snorkeling between the tectonic plates! I have to admit I was a little skeptacle at first. Walking into 1 degree Celsius water really didn't seem appealing, but the dry suits kept us warm. We were emailed pictures afterwards which was great since we didn't have to fiddle around with a camera and were able to take in the environment uninterrupted. I highly recommend this tour for a unique experience. Not many people can say they've snorkeled in Iceland let alone in between 2 tectonic plates.
We had Clarence as our snorkel instructor and I cannot recommend him highly enough!! The whole experience was super fun, seamless and professionally managed. It's such a cool and unique experience to be able to snorkel/ dive Silfra and made even better by a fun staff who know what they're doing!
Such an amazing experience! Our guides were fun and funny, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful with the gear. They also gave us great information about what we'd be looking at and what to expect when getting in the near freezing waters. I am so happy we did this and so happy we chose dive.is!
Great tour! My tour guide was Bart and he was so funny & knowledgable. I wanted to say that the tour is not at the visitors center. You have to drive passed it and find the dirt parking area where the dive vans are. (That is if you choose to drive there) Also, if you are self-driving, you must pay for parking, and credit card is the only way to pay.
Love the shop! They do small groups so you're getting the one on one attention from the dive guides. Stefanino was awesome! I'd totally ask him to be my guide on other dives I do the next time I visit Iceland! Definitely the way to go if you ever want to dive in Iceland.
I stumbled upon this company while I was looking for a snorkeling tour that fit into my schedule. I am so happy I did. The specific tour I took was the Silfra Snorkeling and Golden Circle Tour. Our guides, Chris and Richard, were great. They were fun and funny and made everything about the trip enjoyable - even putting on the dry suit! They knew what they were doing and made sure we had the best possible trip. I highly recommend using Dive.IS.
On what has been a holiday full of highlights, this probably tops the lot. I don’t think I’ve ever been colder than when we were getting ready -10), but that quickly passed when we got in the water. By the time you get out you’re not even thinking about the temperature! The water is almost indescribable - the depths and colours are like no other I’ve seen before. Remember to drink some water while you’re in there! When (not if) I come back to Iceland, I’ll be doing this again.
Special head nod to our guide AJ - what an awesome guy! Helped us all get ready, took us on the tour and snapped shots of us in action. Thanks, man!
Went snorkeling in December 2017. Great company. Instructors were very knowledgeable and helpful. The equipment worked just fine. Water was 35 degrees and it was snowing but we had a blast! They have a heated trailer to change in and they hand out hot chocolate after you get back to warm you up. Would recommend this trip to anyone.
Experience of a lifetime. Steve was an absolutely amazing guide. From getting the drysuite setup to giving great snorkel instructions, he was instrumental in the incredible time we had. To say we snorkeled between two tectonic plates still seems surreal. While the water may be cold, the dry suite keeps you adequately warm. Your face and hands to get cold from contact with the water but nothing too unbearable. Take a go pro like I did or purchase the very reasonably priced pictures they take. Definitely one of the huge highlights of a bucket list trip to Iceland. When driving in winter to park from Reykjavik, give your self extra time to get there. Otherwise there really wasn’t any traffic other than leaving the city.
If you have the opportunity to participate in this once in a lifetime experience, DO IT!! The guides that lead the tours are FANTASTIC! Even in the middle of November, it was well worth it! You can purchase a whole set of files of pictures from the day, if you don’t have a waterproof camera. There’s hot chocolate & cookies waiting for you when you get out. I cannot say enough about how amazing swimming between two tectonic plates is!!
While the tour is pricey, it is DEFINITELY worth the money! The dive shop takes good care of its divers. It's like diving in another world. Richard P. was my guide and did a great job taking care of our little group! Stefano was my Dry Suit instructor. He is hilarious and an excellent instructor. “Italian hands!”
Very professional and thorough company to use to do this snorkel adventure with. From the time we arrived, then ensured we knew what we were doing, everything fitted, we were as waterproof as possible, and comfortable and we knew what to expect. By the time we got to the water and in, we felt so reassured by our guide and were able to just enjoy the whole experience. Even afterwards, the whole team were there to help us get out of the dry suits and ensure we were warm and taken care of. Our guide was amazing and this was one of the highlights of our holiday.
Snorkelled Sept 30/17 perfect sunny day. Richard our guide gave a good talk about what to expect and see throughout the tour. First rate equipment, 6 people in the group so not all crowded while snorkelling. Once in a lifetime experience, yes your hands get cold and the dry suit is snug around your neck and wrists but that why you stay dry inside it. Definately recommend taking the plunge.
We had the best time on our dive day trip with dive.is! Our guide Ants was lovely and we felt very safe diving with him. He answered all of our questions patiently and thoroughly and was there to help us throughout the day, getting in and out of our equipment, taking pictures and bringing us hot chocolate and biscuits between the dives. The equipment provided was top notch - I don't think we have ever rented equipment that worked so perfectly. My mask didn't even fog! The first dry suits given to us were a perfect fit (anyone who has ever rented a dry suit before knows what a nightmare finding one that fits well can be!) and the whole team really went above and beyond to ensure that we had a safe and enjoyable dive experience. Dive.is really has the system down to a T - if you go diving with them you will feel like royalty and you will have the most perfect day at the most incredible dive site! I cannot recommend them or their dive tour enough.
Wonderful experience, a must do! we had a pretty sunny and warm day! explanations were clear & everything went well. We will definitely do another round there next time!
Thanks Clarence for your kindness and help, you've been an amazing guide :)
This was a great experience! I got dry suit certified specifically for diving Silfra during my trip to Iceland, so this was my first dry suit dive after getting my certification. We had a small group - just me, the dive master, and another experienced dry suit diver. The scenery was stunning! We were lucky to have a crystal clear day, which made for virtually unlimited visibility in the water. And yes, the water is cold! Your face goes numb pretty quick, so you don't really feel the cold (!) but my index fingers also went numb, which I could feel and was uncomfortable, though I regained feeling soon after finishing the dive. Also, be prepared to suit up with the equivalent of your body weight and walking 100 meters to the dive site and then 300 meters back to base after the dives! The dive is expensive, but it's one heck of a cool (get it?!) experience!
We booked a snorkel Aug 2017 and had a great time. We didn't scuba as we weren't dry suit certified but the Snorkel was great. They give you all the gear and dry suits. The dive was for about an hour and it was a little chilly by the end. The operator and the guide was great and they are very well organized. If you make it to Iceland, definitely do this day trip.
A friend and I went snorkeling and it was magical. At first I was extremely nervous given that I am not a strong swimmer, but the drysuit easily kept me afloat leaving me just to steer with the flippers (note: the purpose of the drysuit is not to keep you floating, but keep you warm - which it does!).
Marie (from Limoges!!!), was our snorkeling instructor and was a pleasure to work with. She took the time to personally explain the location and make sure we felt comfortable in the suits which was invaluable to my experience.
The majesty of Silfra is heightened by dive.is' attention to comfort and professionalism. A must experience in Iceland!
Went on the Dive Silfra tour based on suggestions by the ilovereykjavik blog and it was amazing! Chris our guide was helpful and got us in the water pretty quick. Nice they picked up in town as well! Would definitely book additional tours through them again!
An unique dive experience with an fabulous staff. From the minute we were picked up to the minute we were dropped off, each and every DIVE.IS staff member was friendly, knowledge and fun to be with. Booking was simple and the entire day seamless.
Having dove all over the world and being a PADI instructor myself I can appreciate the dedication the DIVE.IS staff has to creating the best possible experience for their guests.
I look forward to diving with them again!
Reputable and reliable dive company in Iceland. Very professional and made the choice easy when deciding which dive company to go with. I highly recommend using them while in Iceland! They are prepared, equipment was top notch, and instructors were friendly!
Amazing experience snorkeling through the clear blue water between tectonic plates. The dive.is team are superb, thanks so much to Fraser and Sarah who made the experience so much better, taking time to explain the basics (I'd never been snorkeling before) and helping with the equipment. Coldest part was getting out into a blizzard! Highly recommend to anyone who comes to Iceland.
This was an awesome experience. Our guide Eleanor was fun to be around and took care of us. She took some really cool photos that we bought afterwards. I also took a GoPro in the water and got cool video. Although my wife was a little chilly towards the end I was warm as could be. The dry suits worked wonders and I was having such a great time I didn't even think about the cold water. (We went mid-March). You are very bouyant with what you wear you literally float on top of the water and at times it was very relaxing to drift with the current and look at all there was to see. The visibility is amazing. You will not be disappointed with this snorkeling experience.
I had such an amazing experience with Dive.is. This is a must see for any adventure seeker!! Eleanora was our guide and did a fantastic job! I am ready to get scuba certified and go back!
One of my favorite tours in Iceland. The Silfra snorkeling tour was an amazing experience. The company is well organized and professional. Our guides, Tania and Eleanora were the best! They were friendly, knowledgeable and made sure everyone was comfortable and had a good time. Would definitely recommend this company and tour!
Dive.Is was truly wonderful to work with! I got very sick on the day I was to go snorkeling and they allowed me to switch days easily and on the day of snorkeling, they were so friendly and helpful. Also, our instructor Stefano was super fun! Thank you for a great experience!
Without a doubt the most professional, friendly and competent Dive set up in Iceland. Have used them 3 years in a row and they never disappoint. Pick you up from your Hotel, good dive briefings and great company.
