  I was initially questioning our decision to stay here on our trip around the Iceland given it's out of the way location but our stay changed that. It's inexpensive for both the stay and food. Breakfast is not included but it also included salmon. Dinner was very good and they took our order when we checked in so it was ready almost immediately when we showed up for our dinner reservation. And while packing up the car, we got to see an artic fox. We may return and stay longer than one night if we're back in the country.

  The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, which in this case is a great thing.
  
  The natural hot springs was an awesome experience.
  
  The rooms have geothermal floor heating, which is nice. But when the weather gets suddenly from cold to warm (as it did when I was in Heydalur) they are very hot = not good sleep.
  
  The rooster starts at 3:36AM and does not stop before night.
  
  Breakfast in Heydalur is simply awesome with local fish, berries, and a variety of self-made bread.

  A wonderful place for riding and just spending some time and "venting off" from civilisation. Completely lost in nothingness. Beautiful bays around, possibility to see wales. 50 m hot tub just a short drive away; they have their own hot tub in a glass house and there's a "wild" hot tub close by.
  
  When we were there, all staff was French, very friendly and attentive. Must have been some of the best food we had in Iceland, a very welcome change from Burgers.
