Cathedral of the Catholic Church in Iceland and home of the only bishop of Iceland. It's more the size of a normal church in continental Europe but still worth visiting. I went on a Tuesday midday and was open to visits.
Wonderfull landscape,beautifull chruch.must see
Very nice congregation and priests. Open-minded, happy about and prepared for guests (even translation books for Icelandic liturgy). After Sunday morning mass tea and coffee which is a good opportunity to meet people. Sunday night mass in English with contemporary songs and many young people. Priests always open for counseling.
Best mass I have been to. Not a Christian but the atmosphere is great and the people friendly.
It's pretty, only large non Lutheran church in Iceland and very nice little park around it as well.
Christmas - Merry Xmas - Happy times
It's a prettier building than many in the area; surprisingly compact inside... I went for the sculptures in the grounds. The Bronze a glass prayer being a favourite. See the pics.
Fairly nice church, with a similar Nordic Gothic style to some of the other buildings and sculptures in the city. Quite sombre inside, with slightly too many reminders to be quiet on the walls. One of the nicer churches in the city.
Lovely church. I think it's the most beautiful church in Reykjavík.
Beatiful ghotic styled church. Really worth a visit for church lovers.
A very pretty Church but unfortunately dwarfed by the main one in the centre in terms of beauty! Still worth a visit if you are near.
Very beautiful building. Built in 1929, so not as old as some of the classic european churches, but its incredible none the less
Beautiful church. Must point out that it offers masses in Icelandic, Spanish, English, Polish, and Lithuanian. Goes to show the dedication I think. Great place to go to mass if you are Catholic and traveling or living here, but also worth visiting even if you are not, if only for the gothic-esque architecture and historic value. Needless to say, greatly recommended.
I liked it as much as I did like Hallgrímskirkja. Though its architecture is more, let's say, modest!
Still, a wonderful church and piece of art!
Catholic Church or "Kristskirkja" (Christ's Church) called by the Icelander. The architect is the same one that build the famous "Hallgrímskirkja". The entry was free and the interiour is impressive. A definite recommendation
If you are into churches and buildings this should be on your list, this is one of few catholic churches in Iceland as the Icelanders are mainly Lutheran. This church was consecrated in 1929 and has gotten serveral beautiful gifts through out the years, most of the masses are in Icelandic but they have started to offer masses in other languages.
