The waterfall itself was lovely, but it was hard to find the trail. You can drive up a road, but you end up on private property. Follow the signs on the road and you'll end up at a parking lot. The longer trail I took wasn't in the best shape (very muddy). The waterfall is really pretty though. Make sure you have proper footwear.

The most beautiful waterfall in Iceland! You can get here by doing the 3-4 mike hike, or you can drive near a bridge and walk over. I drove close to the waterfall to the bridge which was on semi-private property. From there, it was about a 15/20 minute walk to the falls through a lot of mud and through an opening in a barbed wire fence. Then you take a bridge (there are 2 bridges but we took the one furthest left) and keep going straight and stay to the left and you will run into it. The water is so blue and gorgeous and it is very private compared to other famous waterfalls. I would definitely recommend visiting this waterfall!!

Gorgeous waterfall. Parking is at the bottom of the river. Just follow the river on your map down to the major road and you should find it. Some horses out there as well. The hike is 2.3 km and not bad until about halfway. It can be very muddy and requires maneuvering through small trees that were semi cut down. Can be very annoying but worth it in the end because this waterfall is awesome! I think there is parking closer, but we had a tough time finding it.

Such a beautiful hike! It was hard to find. There was no official trail, you have to follow the man made trail from previous hikers. We went on the first week of May and there was still some snow along the road. This made it muddy to get to. Bring something to clean your shoes to get back into your car. Or there's River banks where your can clean the mud off your shoes. We parked inside right before the trespassing signs then hiked the rest of the way. There's some hidden paths so you can go down to be right on the fall.

Hard to find and get to for being so close to the road but its a beautiful waterfall. Highly recommend if you like a good treasure hunt. Really muddy hiking in early to mid spring.

Worth the hike it took to get there! But not easy to find. If you are using Google Maps it will take you to a small rural neighborhood with no great areas to park. Once you find a spot to park you will want to change Google Maps to walking directions and even that is a bit off. There are no signs and you'll cross a barbed wire line about 2 ft off the ground (we almost tripped over it - so watch out.) The "path" seems to be used often enough to be obvious.(unless it just snowed - then it would probably be impossible to find) If you're heading the right way you should see a few colored ribbons tied to branches along the path. You'll come to a small bridge and cross that stream - from there - still about two minutes to go to find the amazing views.

a hidden gem along our to the golden circle. not quite a straight forward path. might be a struggle to find but once found, it is amazing. the water is so clear and blue against the black rocks. we had to park up on the side road and had to hike the rest of the way. around 15-20min. worth stopping by to see if you have enough time. be prepared to be walking a bit for it.

This waterfall was a unexpected surprise. We didn't know about it.. It wasn't that well sign posted (snow didn't help) and needed about a 20 min walk across a couple of fields. But it was one of the most unique waterfalls in Iceland. Well worth the treasure hunt.

Absolutely stunning waterfall. Way more interesting than the more popular/known waterfalls.
Stunning blue water with pitch black rocks. Amazing contrasts!
Bit hard to find especially in the snow but totally worth it!

This is a wonderful waterfall. The water is just so blue, it is amazing. We were captivated. It is on private land and the locals may tell you off, like one lady did with us as they do not want to be besieged by tourists, but it is well worth the visit. It is not sign posted and you have a hunt a little to find it.

Stunning& breathtaking. In order to get there, you have to trespass private properties some time because the time when we arrived there the access bridge was shut down. We got lucky because when we were in the middle of nowhere, there were two strangers pointing out the direction for us. So we made it!!! Everything was just like the waterfall, so unbelievable!!!

Loved these falls. We were staying in a cabin nearby (A1 - also recommended) and walked up to the Bruarfoss. It's a scenic walk along the river. These pictures are of the lower/mid section. It's about a 10 minute walk up from here to the higher section and we hardly saw anyone.
We actually didn't go to the Gullfoss Waterfall during our stay as it's more popular with the tourists.

It's beautiful but tricky to get to.

How To Get To Bruarfoss:

Use google maps to map to Bruarfoss

This will get you to the private property where the falls are located within. The easiest way to get to the trail is to look for Campsite #9.

The unpaved road on your left-hand side is a bit before that Campsite. If you pass Campsite 10/11 you will see the barbed wire fence and know that you have gone too far.

It is a straight line on the dirt path that will take you to the falls. You will reach a fork in the path, be sure to continue straight on the right and not in the direction of the sign.

Shortly you will arrive at a bridge, cross the bridge and you will soon be at the glorious falls.

It was incredibly muddy when I went in October, I recommend wearing hiking shoes with good grip and strongly advise against running shoes.

Amazing waterfall, but little hard to find. There is no designated parking, either have to park near is the first bridge which is just shy for couple of vehicles, best parking is front of the rental cabins on route. Need to walk couple of miles to reach the waterfall, but it is worth the effort. It is on a private property, so have to cross the barbed wires from one property to another on the way. Just follow the wooden chips trail after the first bridge. There is no shelter or restrooms around.

Tricky to find for sure.but Google actually does a pretty good job of getting you there. The claim of the bluest water in Iceland is merited.It is stunning!

Amazing falls. The falls may not be big but it's beautifully shaped and looks great up close of from the viewing bridge. There are some tracks you may find near the left or right of the bridge (you come in from the right side from the trail) to go down to see the fall at eye level. The right side is better. Do bring your tripod along. I didn't and still regretting it.

One of the best medium sized waterfalls in Iceland. Definitely worth the slog through the mud to get there. There is now a fence preventing access from a small parking area. Access from the main road instead.

When I first discovered Bruarfoss online, I knew it would be a treat to visit. However, I also read that it was quite difficult to find which became a challenge we accepted. It was indeed tricky to find despite having read about how to find it.

Once we were in the right area, we parked on the side of a road, crossed a short foot bridge, and were met with a fairly long, not strenuous but INCREDIBLY muddy. I say this so you know to wear the right footwear. I was wearing sneakers with bad grip and it was incredibly uncomfortable. My fiance was wearing rainboots and she was fine the entire way.

Once you get there, it is a sight to behold. There is a bridge crossing over and you can see the bright blue stream in the center of the falls. The waterfall is not large by any standards, but it has a charm of its own.

Note: Bear in mind that this waterfall is near private property with vacation homes. Please be respectful of the environment and the people residing there.

This waterfall is really beautiful and worth seeing when the weather is good. But hard to find and the path over to it is muddy.

Becoming more and more popular, but still considered a small secret gem. For me it is the most beautiful waterfall. Don't expect something high, it's more a river fall. It's absolutely stunning in colors. There is a small parking lot, but not easy to find.

Almost impossible to find, but wonderful once you do. The GPS coordinates on Google are correct but the directions are not. Just keep wandering in the right direction with GPS.

This place is a brilliant hidden gem of Iceland. It's quite a walk and pretty hard to find but well worth getting too. Saying that we managed to get there with a 3 year old and he was over the moon. The water fall its self is unlike anything iv ever seen, with luminous blue water in the centre and dark water around it. Don't miss out on the absolute beauty of this off the beaten track wonder.

This place isn't easy to find, but don't be put off by the 'private' signs. These apply to the new housing development nearby. The attraction is hard to find and poorly signposted. Try and get as close as you can via GPS and walk the rest of the way. For us that meant trekking over fields in what we thought was broadly the right direction. You'll get there eventually and it's a nice spot.
