My wife and I found ourselves here on a Sunday. There wasn't anyone at the church but the doors where open. We spent a wonderful quiet time together, praying and praising our Lord Jesus Christ, at a church where people have been doing that for hundreds of years. It was amazing. A beautiful place for quiet reflection, prayer and worship. Thank you Breiðabólstaðarkirkja. God bless you.

In this life, it is good to remember and reflect on the precious lives of those who have gone before. To do so makes us grateful and helps us cherish the present moment of our life together in this world. This historic church features a quiet garden cemetery and a majestic view of the islands at Vestmannaeyjar/ Heimaey. Graves that I found mark the resting places of residents from at least the 1700s to the present.
