Very beautiful prayer hall with nicely carved columns. Worth visiting. Some of it was under construction when we visited (Apr 2018).

Lovely old Iranian mosque located inside the Vakil Bazaar and close to Vakil bath museum.
Belongs to Zandie era and was the main mosque of the Shiraz city, Zandie empire's capital.
You will see great pink tiles, iranian arch decorations called "Mogharnas", a 14 meters marble "Minbar" and lovely coloumn decorations calld Zandi spirals there.
You can go ibside the bazaar from the back door of mosque and see lots of beatiful Iranian handicrafts, specially clothes, carpets and textiles there.response / report this review -

This mosque was built between 1751 and 1773, during the Zand period;. However, it was restored in the 19th century during the Qajar period. "Vakil" means regent, which was the title used by Karim Khan, the founder of Zand Dynasty.

Although, from outside it looks simple but believe me, that's not a case if you enter in it. Vakil Mosque is beautiful indeed which dates back to 275 years ago. It's courtyrad is big. The 48 carved marble columns are the main feature of this mosque. Colorful detailed mosaic work on walls & ceiling is amazing for those who have an interest in the rich architectural heritage around the world.
Unfortunately, there is a enterance fee for tourists which is a stupid act. Religious monuments/Buildings, Shrines/Tombs of Religious personalities & poets are not meant for earning money. So, I always get disturb on such stupid steps of governments in any country. There must be a free enterance!!!response / report this review -
