Beautiful historical place. Unfortunately in my opinion it is looking better from outside than inside. But inside you will find great garden and books shops with variety of suvenir in good prices. It's a pity that you cannot climb to the walls. Unfortunately like everywhere in Iran - tourists are paying almost 5 Euro, Iranians less than 1 Euro.

This is one of the best places of shiraz in iran. After i read the story about this castle i was so impressed about the love of Karim Khan to his darling It is under repair and reconstruction so it is not possible to wisit all places in the castle. There are many orange trees in the garden and it is a historical lovely place

Somewhat sad place. Not sure why.
The best about it is the crafts workshops - men and women applying ancient, wonderful skills to produce magnificent miniatures and objects.

Nice fortress to visit if you are in Shiraz. It is meant to be constructed with the best materials around and from abroad. At the time it was used as a living quarter by the Zand dynasty. You have to pay to enter but it is definitely worth it as it is quite impressive.

It reminds me of the Leaning Tower of Piza. Powerful structure. I liked it. I had an opportunity to mix here with different strata of Iranian society - soldiers, teenagers, ladies wearing their usual head scarves, etc. All of them very nice, polite people.

I think it is a good place to visit only in the outside. The ticket was expensive relative to other sight. But it is still good to have a look if budget allows.

Arg-e-Karim Khan was built in 1180 AH (1766-7). Karim Khan invited the best architects and artists of the time and bought the best materials from other cities and abroad for the construction of the citadel of Karim Khan, which was quickly constructed. During the Zand dynasty it was used by the king as living quarters. During the Qajar period it was used as the governor's seat.

Prince Abdolhosein Mirza Farmanfarma, governor of Fars Province, ordered the miniatures in the citadel to be renovated.

After the fall of the Qajar Dynasty it was converted into a prison and the paintings were plastered over. In 1971 it was given to Iran's Cultural Heritage Organization. The renovation of the citadel started in 1977.
