The Qajar were an Iranian royal dynasty of Turkic origin which ruled Persia from 1785 to 1925. Golestan Palace was their showroom of pomp and circumstance, a true tourist mecca. I found the ticketing to be excruciatingly slow and vexing, even with only a few people trying to get in so I decided to skip this one and instead spend more time at the much more welcoming National Museum not far from there.
It is a very beautiful place and the edifices were so beautiful every thing about the buildings were great but some of the people working there didn’t have any respect for the visitors and that was so embarrassing for me as an Iranian.
Such an screamingly vast palace dates back to the last king of Iran.
It's one of the have-to-see places in Tehran. You are going to be mesmerised and agape by that luxurious and mysterious air of the majestic and royal buildings and designs.
Lots of places to go. You need time. Make sure you you are there early in the morning.
One the most beautiful jewels of Tehran. A must visit attractions for both locals and visitors. Here are few pictures of my favourite palaces and location within the premise.
Can't recommend this palace enough!!!
Definitely check out the mirrors palace and brilliant palace💓
Built during the Qajir era, Golestan showcases the craftsmen ship of those times with intricate patterns & designs.
Welcomed by the garden and marble stone, this site will give you a glimpse into the past life of early Persian rulers.
Once pahlavi's moved into the newly built niyavaran palace near tochal, golestan was left behind for coronation & other official receptions.
major portions of the goelstan palace was demolished to pave way for the development of the city during shah's time.
Mirror Hall (Talar e Aineh) was my favourite among the different halls inside the palace. It doesn't means other are not good, they are as good in its own way.
Interesting but not speciale, one of the most historical site in Teheran
If you are at Tehran, this is a nice place to visit. It is needed to buy tickets to visit each section separately but you can start by buying only the ticket for the garden itself.
What a nice Palace. This house reflects nicely the grandeur this familie must have loved in. A place you must visit.
It's nice place.. But the staff especially the woman didn't nice at all.. Different than man staff, they nice and explain where to go to some tourist..
Geatfull place with different museum, need some maintenance to environmental. During holiday only one ticket office was open.
Very nice gardens and Qajar style architecture. More impressive from the outside than the inside of the pavilions. You must pay in the entrance the tickets of the pavilions you want to visit, so avoid paying the full visit to all the pavilions, just the one that interest you. Specially worth visiting the Marble Throne, the Khalvat e Karim, the Sun Palace and the pavilion with the wind towers (badgir). The coffee shop is overpriced.
Every time I visit the palace, I find something amazing in the architecture which I didn't aware of. Plus we have our best family pictures ever in the yard of the palace.
A must see. You have to pay 150000 Toman (for Admission) then have to pay separately to see different halls. I visited the Main Hall only so I paid 150000 + 150000 (for Main Hall) = 300000 Toman. The price of the halls vary. Photography inside is not allowed.
Loved it! Would definitely recommend visiting this palace when you travel to Iran, artifacts and old gifts from other nations for the shah are presented, the design and interior are rich and amazing. Really glad I stopped by.
How to describe this place ? Nice is not enough. Buildings are beautiful and inside is Royal! But, you have to pay for each site and it will be become expensive.
One of the oldest historic monuments in the city of Tehran, and of world heritage status, the Golestan Palace belongs to a group of royal buildings that were once enclosed within the mud-thatched walls of Tehran's arg. It consists of gardens, royal buildings, and collections of Iranian crafts and European presents from the 18th and 19th centuries
Amazing palace with outstanding architecture and interior design. Get a decent guide that can explain the additions and modifications made over the years as well as the various gifts from around the world stored as treasures.
Limited public toilets with no paper.
Restaurant in facility is expensive by locals standards and mediocre food.
If you've visited Tehran and missed Golestan Palace, return right now! This beautiful palace which is 440 years old and consists of several buildings surrounding a beautiful garden. There is a cafe in one of the buildings with sits outside and a shop selling souvenirs. Best time to visit is during the new year holidays when it is less crowded.
A must see in Tehran. However expensive because you have to pay for every building. I am still amazed by the love for mirrors of the rich and famous in Iran. Like the other palaces it's a showcase of bad taste. In the art gallery there are some nice paintings. Pictures of the shahs travels are also interesting.
