Shades of past glory. Peeling walls and ceilings and basins now. I have a though. Iraq today is tough.

I haven't stayed at the hotel, but it's not a bad place to get a cheap beer, get a massage, a haircut, buy a plane ticket, or use the money transfer service. Just note that the bar doesn't actually have billiards as advertised on the Sport Bar sign outside the building. It's a dark den for middle-aged Kurdish men to sit quietly and drink while listening to / watching club music videos and gawking at the wait-staff who are exclusively young, large-breasted South African and Korean girls.

Note that if you're transferring money to the United States, do not use this Western Union. Use the one down the street at Iraqi National Bank. For some reason this particular Western Union has to send the funds first to Jordan and then on to the US which means that the difference in fee between here and Iraqi national bank is about 100 dollars US. There is a cheaper money transfer service available here, but also can't send to the United States.
