Seva Café is an experiment in the shared joy that comes from humble giving and selfless service. Our wholesome meals are cooked and served with love by volunteers and offered to our guests as a genuine gift, for which they are free to pay from their heart. This goes towards cooking the next days meals, and so the chain has continued for over 6 years serving more than 80,000 gifts. It is an initiative supported entirely by the community, in an effort to connect with our peers.

As more participate in the joy of giving, the more the experiment thrives. It begins with a single gift: first given, then received, multiplied, and given again, in a growing chain of kindness and care. We hope this Circle of Giving leaves you feeling more nourished, and inspired to carry the experiment forward.

The experiment provides an environment for both guests, and volunteers to interact. By inviting groups of volunteers from different organizations and strata of society, we encourage openness towards diverse thoughts. In the end, it is this exchange of thought that can help bring about an understanding of those around us. For example, I may work with a woman empowerment organization, but I might understand my work better if I spend an evening making rotis with an 'underprivileged' woman.

More than what happens within Seva Cafe, it is critical that we allow the thought behind it to flow constantly so that it may manifest in different forms elsewhere. With this intention, we constantly look to share - through blogs, or openly interacting with whosoever visits our space. We therefore have faith, that in every person who enters the space lies a seed of goodness that blossoms when it receives a gift.
