Pratham Talk Center

Talk Center is a one of its kind program pioneered by Pratham in January 2011. Pratham Talk Center started with the goal of reaching out to youth and adults despite the geographical and technological barriers. The program seeks to enhance spoken English skills of people residing in rural or urban areas where the opportunities of learning English are bleak.

Today, people from various cultures, states and backgrounds are enrolled in this innovative program to overcome the challenges and difficulties they face while communicating in English and to gain confidence and fluency of the language through rigorous speaking practice.

Currently there are two Talk Centers, one is in Delhi and the other is in Mumbai.
The Talk Center works on the philosophy that a one can learn a language and be fluent in it simply by listening to it and by using it in speech rather than by knowing the structure and grammar of a language.

The Talk Centre gives a platform to the participants to interact and converse in English and creates an environment form them to practice what they have learnt. The participants get an open forum for expressing their opinions and thoughts, on a wide range of general and specific issues. All this is done through telephonic conversations, where dedicated personal attention to each student becomes the biggest advantage.
The callers, referred to as "Call Coaches" are trained to assist students with sentence construction, pronunciation, confidence building and to attain fluency.

The talk centre is a unique and innovative movement in the sphere of language learning. Learners from all ages, languages and regions can now learn and practice their speaking skills at home, at work, while travelling or while resting. Whenever and wherever, all they need is a cell phone.
