Since 1978, some concerned Youth Members had been praying for the formation of a separate Youth Department and they shared their desire to some elders who were ever willing to support their noble cause. Well wishers such as Mr. & Mrs. Madan Kumar Rai (ABSI) and others came forward to willingly help them.
Finally, on Sunday the 13th of March 1980, under the Commanding Officer Late Shri. Nungsangkaba, Pastor Late Pelhouzolie Angami and the Church elders realised the importance of the Youth Department and decided to permit the Youth to start the same. The same day after the devotional service, the Church elders along with some Youth Members held a meeting and appointed the following Youths as the First CYE Office Bearers:

2. Vice President : Mr H. Kho Pao
3. Gen. Secy. : Miss Mem (Indra) Lotha
4. Asst. Gen. Secy. : Miss. Aholi Sema
5. Treasurer : Late Shri. Longlangba Dy.SP
6. Advisor : Shri Nribemo
The newly appointed office bearers were dedicated by Evangelists Mr. Imliba Ao and Lima Ao of Akhoia Village who happened to visit the Unit Church that day and with their blessing the Department started functioning.
The following members are recorded as the first Youth Members who enrolled their membership under the theme “Aim of past and coming days of youth”
