Best place in Chennai to spend time with Family. Its a big zoo, so if you can't walk try cycle services or use zoo Cab vehicles. Need to buy ticket in entrance itself. Now Entry ticket is Rs 50 per adult. Best place for Nature/Animal lovers and even photographers. Need to buy Rs 25 tickets for mobile phone cameras too. They check in entrance itself.

It's a zoological park where we can see all types of forest animals. This is nice place, Once must visit. We can spent 3 to 4 hours nicely. Tourist vehicles are also available here. Go in a group and enjoy this place. Once we went in a group and enjoyed picnic party here.

Good to just cycle or walk in nature.

Poorly maintained. Full of lovers. Not so many animals available. Animals places are not maintained properly also the animals.

Restroom and dark and spooky, no proper light.

They don't bother about the normal visitors but just the vip visitors. Though the vehicles available they refused to run it on Sunday.

They need to redo their management.

The place is wonderful for the weekend. The less rating is for the staffs and have to buy ticket for a basic mobile with a camera. Today all mobiles have camera. Then why do we need to get a separate ticket for mobiles. Also they have increased the ticket prices now. The ticket prices are reasonable but charging for a basic mobile just because it has camera is not acceptable. They should charge the ones who has SLR or DSLR or any other cameras.

Try on a non-crowded day.. a good place to hang out with your little ones.. be there as early as possible .. it would be good if there are couple of good restaurants inside.. as they won't let you take any outside food... I suggest you hire a bicycle than the electric vehicle to make the most of it. The best part is, it is clean and green.

Good place not to be missed. Maintenance have been improved to an extent. But some animals look lean, so feel they should be taken care off. Visitors also should not cross the limits.

A very large Zoological Park. You'll find so many animals and birds here. Great place to visit with your family or friends. I assure you'll enjoy it. It will take a whole day, might get tired walking. Its wise to take the battery vehicle or rented cycle to travel inside. Never miss the Lion Safari.

I visited this place. It was very very beautiful inside and we can enjoy a day if you really interested in zoo. We can hire bicycles and we can roam happily with friends in entire zoo.. only disappointed thing we can't get any good food once we enter inside..... totally awesome zoo

Huge Zoological Park - India's largest interns of area. We had visited after the recent cyclone so lots of trees had fallen down and renovation was still in progress. But kids were able to enjoy watching a lot of animals like Tigers, lions , bear and monkeys. Quite a few birds and aquarium. One cannot cover the Zoo by walking so better take the electric car facility or small shuttle which will take you to prominent places.

It is a nice place to chill. Though it's not the most wonderful zoo. I think the could have more animals, maintained in a better way. Especially the birds. They can be put in better more natural cages. It's very sad to look at those beautiful parrots stuck in a dry empty cage. Some of them are alone which is even more pathetic to look at.

Very vast area of zoo. Parking is available, but new parking space is 1 km away. Cycle available for rent for ₹200/- refundable deposit and ₹15/- per hour charge. Food is not very good, was spicy. Water is available at many places.
Summer was a bad time to go, especially post cyclone.
    Overall a wonderful place.

Animals here were looking weaker. Lion safari was good. You can spend a whole day with friends and family. It would be more pleasant to go in Winter as it gives a cool welcome breeze when you roam around.

Nice place to hang around with Kids for a day.. Animals are placed on a vast area.. It is difficult to walk around..

Battery operated vehicles are available for private/individual hiring and charged on per hour basis.. This will be little expensive.. Shared Battery operated rides are available at cheaper rates.. But these shared vehicle operators rush through without giving ample time to admire the animals..

Cycles are available on rent inside Zoo premises.. Best Plan is to hire them, even if there is rush in the cycle counter and u r required to wait for some time to get the cycles.. Hiring Cycles would help you go around leisurely.. Tandem Cycles for couples and prams for seating kids in front of Cycles are also available..

Don't miss out this place if you are in Chennai and you have Kids who love animals..

A Vast Area. A good place to spend one day as picnic with kids. Take no plastic/foil (Even Biscuit wrappers) with you. Tupperware bottles allowed for water. Go early in the morning 9 - 10 am to easily get the bicycles on rent and enjoy riding thru the park. Ample parking space and area to eat food brought from home. There is a Eatery/Hotel serving food inside , Snacks shop Midway- served tea, coffee, samosa and bread sandwiches. There's also two other places serving ice cream and milk . Recommended to go during winter or after a rainy day to enjoy the pleasant weather. Enjoy the Lion safari & Deer Safari from a Caged Van (optional - paid separately)
