An ancient village from the time of the Nabateans, it continued to be inhabited by the byzantines/ early muslim and later. Three churches, a Mosque and the whole village can be seen clearly. Check out my pictures:)

Excellent place to learn about the old Nabati people. Well preserved. Better to arrive in a sunny winter day, it is tough during summer.

UNESCO World Heritage historical site. An ancient desert town from the dawn of Christianity with houses, streets, pools and churches. All set on the back drop of the magnificent Negev desert. Like walking into a Western. There's an orchard a few hundred meters away, left from an experimental farm from the 1950's that relayed on the Nabatian irrigation system, using only the scant rain and floods of the area. The success of this orchard is living proof of their ingenious methods.

330*460 m dead nabatean fortified city with 3 basilicas (the southern one has remnants of a Transfiguraion fresco with St Peter and St John in front of Christ), excavated by Catholic Dominican brothers in 1905 then by Colt in 1933. Vast irrigation system that was used for the producing of 20 000 hl wine.700 and 800 m3 water basins.
