A great experience! I was fascinated by the interactive displays as they wove together the story of the palmach and the founding of the state of Israel while drawing in all five of the senses into the story!

Great experience overall. Get's a bit long at the end but you really get an idea of the war and what it was like day to day for those who volunteered despite the prohibition against it. nicely done

You MUST have a pre-arranged reservation and your passport to get through security and pay the ₪30 entrance fee. There is only the timed, guided tour through the museum that has been built into a military facility.

The tour itself starts with a short speech from your guide, followed by a series of film projections in specially curated sets. The story follows a founding group's experiences through Independence and the subsequent Arab conflicts from the Isreali perspective as the Palmach transitions to the IDF.

There is also a large collection of photographic artifacts and a small Café. Often there are vetrans that visit at the end of the tour for questions and photos.

Growing up in the 70's/80's, I wasn' aware of the specifics of how Israel came into being. The attack by 5 Arab nations on the very day of Israel's founding was amazing to learn about. Even more astounding was the world's silence and inaction in response. Visiting the Palmach Museum and Independence Hall, and learning about the Palmach was a remarkable way to put the pieces together and understand how the scrappy, disparate remnants of the world's Jews that washed up on these shores, were able, finally, to take their destiny into their own hands.

Now I understand better the determination required to make this happen. I also understand better what makes Israeli's different - how each of them is responsible for their nation's security and well being. In the days of the Palmach, they were responsible, each of them, for it's birth. Fascinating to anyone interested in history, no matter your polical or religious perspective.

Don’t miss this museum if you want to learn about the history of modern Israel. This is different than the Independence Museum, though. Know exactly which one you want, or you will confuse hotel concierges and taxi drivers.

Provides a good deal of info on the Palmach, and the format is somewhat unique but to the extent that it takes awat a little from the message I still can't figure you why the last room has a rotating floor

Aside from that, be sure not to miss the photo collection in the opposite building after your tour.

We didnt reserver upfront, but when we ask the cashier we could join 2 and half hours later. We then go first to Eretz Israel museum(5min walk) and after that joined the tour trough Palmach museum. We definitely liked it!

A must for everyone who can arrange for a guided visit. You should register in advance to join a group visit but you may also just go ad-hoc and hope to join a group who may have some space left (just make sure you somewhat understand the language of the tour guide). The museum immerses you fully into Israel's pioneer past and is also technically just great!!!
