  The location, rooms and breakfast were great but a bit expensive. The host was very congenial.
  
  Access was a problem as the Google map location was wrong - 3km away and took 100 minutes to find the hotel! 5 months later its still wrong!
  
  The correct Google map location is 32.966917, 35.492713. Or Chrome: YOD ALEPH ST and ARLOZOROV ST, SAFED ISRAEL

  Even for those who do not subscribe to kabbalah and mysticism, Safed is an unusual place on top of a beautiful mountain, surrounded by pristine nature. The real gem in these surroundings is in the Artist's Colony area and carries the aristocratic name: "Palacio Domain Luxury Boutique Hotel". To find out what is in that name, you enter a large 12th-Century Period building that is filled with antique furniture, paintings and intriguing knick-knacks of all sorts. Each room is an artistic experience in itself, tastefully furnished in the style of a true "Palacio" but with due attention to comfort and a relaxed life style. The bathrooms have been modernized, along with other features of modern life. It is the best of both worlds. A delicious and very personalized breakfast is served in the elegant and spacious dining room, together with friendly smiles and impeccable hospitality. There are less expensive accommodations in Safed but for a special treat, this is the right place.

  Elegant, Edwardian decor; gracious 17 room boutique hotel, built 1/2 millennium ago, during Mamaluk period; old stone former residence of governor of Galilee district. Lovely Israeli breakfast included.U won't need lunch! Extremely personal attention & caring by the owner-proprietor, Jean Yves, a talented artist, w works on walls, always charmingly available. A definitely unique, elegant venue..memorable, happily! 4Plus, unreserved recommendation!
  Really, we had no complaints. It's a wonderful, unique find. Not a "big chain" amorphous hotel. Does have excellent free WiFi, tho!

  The Palacio Domain is undoubtedly one of our favorite hotels in the world! My husband and I with our 3 children recently stayed there for a second time, and we absolutely loved every minute spent at this stunning facility. It is so unique in that it is actually a large mansion which is beautifully and elegantly decorated throughout all of the sitting areas, bedrooms, hallways and other common areas. It is the closest we have ever felt to being royalty! We stayed in the "Manor " an exquisite and unique 12th century private house that makes you feel Royal! The ambiance is stunning, the décor and the beds are very comfortable, and breakfasts are plentiful and delicious. The manager is a wonderful, gracious host. The location is extremely in the heart to the Artist's Colony in Tsfat, and walkable to many other areas as well. I am always sad to leave this hotel, but look forward to returning again soon. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

  Palacio Domain Safed Luxury Boutique Hotel
  A beautiful hotel in a wonderful location with amazing service.
  As we entered the beautiful tiled courtyard which leads to the reception where you are greeted personally by the welcoming staff and the owner, we felt this hotel would be special. Sumptuous describes both the public areas and also the exquisite bedrooms. We stayed in the "cheapest" room and even this was beautifully decorated, filled with antique furniture and with a large comfortable bed. We highly recommend this beautiful hotel to everyone to experience this unique place

  Some aspects of this place are amazing. It is incredibly beautiful and unique. We stayed in the Manor- which had high ceilings, beautiful stonework, and an ancient well! I have never stayed in a place like this. It is very pricey- and almost meets the value. There is a sofa bed in one of the rooms which is very uncomfortable- The host would be better off replacing it with a futon. For a thousand dollars a night there shouldn't be any extremely uncomfortable sleeping options. Also, there are no windows. There is plenty of ventilation- so this wouldn't have bothered us- but they had just done some heavy cleaning and the smell of cleaning supplies remained strong throughout our stay. We didn't opt for the breakfast as it seemed over priced (20 dollars per person) for what seemed little. There is no wi-fi which was inconvenient. If the beds were more comfortable, there was wi-fi, and the breakfast was included- or at least more reasonably priced- then I would give this five stars. It is one of the most interesting places I have ever stayed in- in a great location of one of the most interesting cities I have ever been to.
