Kids loved going up the cable car. Wish we could have done the hike down but we had limited time. Many other folks were hiking down though and it looked exciting. It was fun learning about the Masada fortress.

In my opinion it's best to see the AV after the visit up top. And allow time to see the southern side. That gives the visitor a good idea what life was like up there, not just for the King

Fortress on top of a mountain in the middle of desert. Unfortunately quite boring if you are traveling with kids - the main attraction might be the cable railway, on top you will find only ruins, very similar to each other. Great view on Dead Sea and desert.

Excellent EXCELLENT place to visit. Amazing how someone could have the insight to build a fortress on top of a mountain like that. Is a bit of a hike up the snake lath6, but they do have a cable car as well if you don't feel you can walk it.

An amazing experience of hiking to the top of the mountain and watch the sunrise overlooking Dead Sea and Jordanian mountains.
The top of the mountain have the ruins of the Byzantine and Ottoman empires. It will take you back centuries, about how they used to live. The hiking is tough but it is the best experience. Although a cable car is present, I would suggest to hike to the top and then take cable car to bottom.
There is a museum and a shopping center with food court at the bottom.
The view from the top is breathtaking and is totally worth your hiking.
Must visit this place, for historical importance and to cherish beauty of he nature.

Amazing history still relevant for today. Lots of walking and steps. Needed the audio guide glad we rented it. Spent 5 hours there cable car up and down and museum. Can't imagine going up the snake path at our ages 67 and 69. Really unique museum too. Loved it all.

Incredible hike with a great reward at the top. The history is amazing. Would definitely like to visit again.

Go early! I went for sunrise and it was beautiful, but also hot even early in the day in winter. It is at -1,400 feet elevation, so not surprising.

Don't miss hiking Masada.

ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY with this place. I do not have a large enough have vocabulary to describe this historic and unique attraction, so I'll post a bunch of pictures.

DO NOT skip out on this opportunity to visit Masada. Take the cable car up and, if you're able to, walk down.

Masada is just awesome. Definitely go there if you want to see some history and check out a really cool ruin and desert.

You may want to have a guide with you because there is a lot to explore and learn about the place. A lot of history indeed.

If you are able to, arrive really really early to appreciate the sunrise from the top of the ruins. It is amazing!

Historic place and very sad story. Much to learn from the past. I came through the road and later realized that it does have another rope train from Dead Sea. Would have loved to explore that path. Better to take a guide and one could easily spend 4 hours at this location. Nice views of the Dead Sea, Jerusalem and the desert portion of Israel.

Fascinating ancient fortress.

I visited through a tour and loved it. We visited for under two hours which is enough to walk up explore and walk back down. I took the cable car up resulting in lots of spare time at the top.

Take a brolly, water and lots of suncream!

Spectacular National Treasure. What more can be said. Really hot and dry. Bring water. the YMCA Hostel at the base is a very nice place to stay.

We hiked up to see the sunrise from the top.
Park opens one hour before sunrise, make sure to be there in time as you might have to wait in line a bit before you can start the hike.

Hike up the snake path is manageable and takes around 45-60 minutes depending on fitness level.
Beautiful views from the top!

The site itself is quite interesting but not too much shadow, so would recommend to be there early.

Nice historic place to visit. In the summer you can only climb the Snake path before sunset. After that you need to take the cable car.

Fact: as you walk around you’ll notice that there is a black line running along the walls. Under the black line is the original ruins. Over that line was added based on archeology and historical writings.

Absolutely breathtaking. I recommend hiking down the Snake Path as you don't really get that amazing view from within the cable car. Make sure you're in good health and bring along sunglasses, maybe a hat and enough water. Don't forget to put on lots of sunscreen.

Only few parts of the Snake Path are equipped with steps or railings. So be careful not to slip.

You can hike or ride the cable car. A historic place where Jewish zealots died and became a symbol for israel. It's very hot up, so make sure to bring water. There's no water up there. You can see some great view.

Really cool place! There's a lot of interesting history here and it's amazing how well it has lasted over time. Be aware it can get very hot though!

Amazing historic site with so much of the original walls still in tact. Our tour guide did an amazing job sharing the amazing stories of the past that took place here. Loved it here. We went at the end of April and it was quite hot. Make sure you have lots of sunscreen and a hat when you visit! It is so worth it! But do this with a guide!

A lovely historic place with enormous views. Take the Snake path 😀 It is an nice experience and a good exercise. The restaurants are not so good. Better drive for another place to have something to eat. The parking staff is friendly and helpful.

Beautiful archaeological site. Snake trail is challenging for kids and the elderly so I would recommend letting them go up (and down for the sake of their knees) the roman ramp. Would highly recommend going to see the sunrise from the top
