This place is a hidden gem. I was looking for some fresh duck and asked in a few different butchers around town. None of the butchers I tried had any but the last suggested I try Urru. I am new to Bandon so had no idea where it was. I followed the directions I was given and easily found it, though wouldn't have ever known it was there if it weren't for the butcher sending me there for the allusive fresh duck I was searching for.
The store has everything from a wide selection of artisan products to a little corner full of books and another full of kitchen gadgets for sale. You can also dine here on basic but exceptional fare.
I didn't dine here but watched a lovely girl make two sandwiches while I chatted with her. It was instanstantly obvious to me that this girl cared about the job in hand. She was putting as much attention into making the sandwiches as I have seen chefs put into dishes in a Michelin star restaurant. I really was impressed and would have immediately ordered one for myself only I had eaten not so long before. Something I regretted as my meal left a lot to be desired. If only I had known about Urru beforehand.
I am looking forward to going back for lunch at the earliest opportunity, after which I shall update this review.
