An independent B&Q or Woodies. Good range of stock at what looked like competitive prices. Staff were more knowledgeable than most. Much better than one would expect in a town of its size.
Very helpful staff excellent show room for bathroom stoves gardening
Very friendly informative staff. Great choice of goods
I went to Toss Bryans on 30th June to purchase stove & arrange fitter. I consulted with Noreen who was very pleasant. When I asked if they could provide a fitter, she said that one could be booked through their store& that she would make a call to arrange appointment at the desk. We purchased insert and surround &Noreen kindly contacted their recommended fitter, a man by the name of Dave Hunter. While on the phone to Dave, he arranged to visit our house on Wednesday at 7pm and indicated that it may be possible to have the job priced and completed within 2 weeks. I left what I purchased at Toss Bryans because it was one of their recommended fitters doing the installation and he was supposed to pick it up on his way to the job. I did ask at the desk how much a fitter would usually cost and they speculated that it would be around €350.
Wednesday evening came around & I was disappointed and a tiny bit concerned when he was a 'no show' but I understand that unforeseen circumstances can rear their ugly heads & I was confident that I'd hear from Dave within a day or two and be reassured that he would be with me presently. I'm a laid back sort of person so I don't get panicked easily. I gave Noreen a call that Friday (a week after purchasing the stove) and I was informed that poor Dave had the flu which would explain why he had missed his appointment at my house. I called and offered my consolation regarding his man flu. He assured me that he would come and price the job on my return from holidays the following week.
I managed to get a hold of Dave via his mobile on 17th July and he
arranged to call on Wednesday evening at 7pm Wednesday evening and still no sight or word from the illusive Dave. I had called and texted because I was worried that he had got lost. I received a text at ten minutes to 7 saying "Sorry, I am at a meeting at moment I will call you in the morning". At this point I started feeling exasperated. I sent Dave a response which said that if he was snowed under at work and could not take on the job that I'd understand but implored him to let us know so that we could go back to Toss Bryans and organise an alternative fitter. He assured me that he would be out the following afternoon. (I had called Toss Bryans to make them aware of the situation). She said that the other fitter has a waiting list until the end of the summer. This was a far cry from the two week wait I was told I about when I was purchasing the stove. I felt I had no choice but to stick with the fitter I had.
Sure enough, Dave rocked up at my house the following afternoon. I was given a price of €1254. This is not an unreasonable price. However, much like the advised waiting time, it was a far cry from the €350 estimate I got in the shop.. He agreed to set up a date on his arrival home. That was Thurs 20th July. After prompting texts & attempted calls from me, I received text on Mon 31st of July at 8.47 stating "Hi emer. Can fit stove next Monday at 9.30". I responded with a thank you and confirmed that I would be home.He also advised me to arrange a chimney sweep prior to his arrival. I arranged a tradesman to sweep the chimney&they were all a bit surprised this was not part of the installation service as it normally would be. I called Dave on Thursday& left message asking that if for any reason he wouldn't be able to make it on Monday to please let us know. After getting my kids in car at 6am to return from holiday weekend in order to let him in, once again A NO SHOW. Called all day and no response, no explanation, no apology. I instructed Toss Bryans to deliver my purchases and got a call 20 mins prior to delivery requesting that I organise someone to help unload the stuff. Poor guy was on his own unloading and loading heavy appliances and fittings and we had to stumble through the job together. Evidently, they care about their staff just as much as their customers. They may argue that the fitters are private but at the end of the day they are responsible for who they inflict on people and I doubt I'm the first victim of Dave's ineptitude
Met two lovely ladies in the garden centre today who helped me choose a lovely climbing pland and also gave great advice on other questions we had thank you
The Fermoy store we visited today was poor. There was a nice variety of products available but shop assistance was severely lacking so we decided to take our business elsewhere. The staff seemed to cluster together for their own little chat and ignore customers. This is the third time this has been our experience in this store. Get your act together lads!!
Awful, as usual not enough staff, check out takes too long. Staff think their time is more important than customers. Also very expensive compared with Argos,10% to 20% HIGHER PRICE than other retailers.Avoid
Excellent one stop shop
Broad spectrum of stock in terms of genre e.g. Plumbing, paint, household appliances, but limited per area as they did not have the plumbing items I required and the prices in this shop are ridiculously high.!
Love it here. but the prices bring them down
Excellent variety of everything for the home. Last year when we renovated our cottage, we bought our appliances and bathroom fixtures at Toss Bryan. Since then we've bought paint, tools, kitchenware and loads of plants from the gorgeous garden centre. I love having such a great place so close to home, and the customer service is next to none!
