This is a very stunning, unique and majestic Roman Catholic Cathedral in a commanding position, standing high above the quaint town of Cobh and overlooking the harbour. The breathtaking views over the sea harbour from the Cathedral made climbing the steps from the bottom of Cobh town to get to the Cathedral high up from the seafront well worth it. The view from the cathedral is nothing short of spectacular. The Cathedral itself with its 300 ft high spire is a very impressive architectural building with so many details and an exceptional spacious 'Gothic' style interior with beautiful stained glass windows.

Absolutely beautiful. Huge gothic style church. Tours available. Car parking. Walk from bus or train. Gift shop. Quiet chapel for praying. Nearby to Heritage trail, many other museums and sights to see. Cobh is a lovely town, plan a whole day, maybe 2.

An astonishingly beautiful cathedral in the middle of Cobh. It is likely to be the most beautiful religious building in Ireland, with its gothic outside and polished interiors. I kindly suggest, even to those who are not Christian or Catholic to visit it during the prayers in order to acknowledge how special this place is.

Nice glassworks in the cathedral, has a very old organ and well known for its bells. Stunning birds eye view over the harbour.

A very unique and stunning Catholic Cathedral in the town of Cobh. The size and richness of the church was surprising in such a small community. It sits majestically on the highest hill in town. Be sure to see its interior as it beautiful.

The nice thing about St. Coleman’s, a Roman catholic Cathedral, is that there is no entrance fee. Of course, as it is a working Cathedral you should avoid taking photographs when religious services are underway and flash Photography should be avoided at all times.
I visited the interior a number of times before this visit and because of ongoing construction work it was not practical to take photographs.
The church is attractive inside but as it is a relatively new building there is not much of historic interest to be seen. Inside there are some beautiful statues that should impress but I did notice that one reviewer described St. Coleman’s as a wonderful place for idol worshippers … the big difference between Roman Catholic and Church Of Ireland cathedrals in Ireland is that the RC buildings include lots of religious statues and icons which do appeal to many while those owned by the COI feature memorials to wars and our long gone Norman lords and masters but because of their age may be of greater historical interest.
My advice is visit all of them and enjoy what is on offer.response / report this review
