Slane Castle is well worth a visit even if you cant afford to stay there as a guest. On the day I was there it was undergoing work and there were very little visitors, add to that it was raining heavy too. The distillery is just across the footpath and you have gift shops there too. If it was a nice day and you had the time there are lovely walk around the ground. The stone work and its condition make Slane Castle stand out among the many ruins I visit. Its a working hotel and restaurant which you can enjoy on your visit. But for photo buffs its not that appealing because you have little room either at the back or on the left hand side to get better angles or quality shots but if its on your to do list get down there soon and make the most of your visit. Most people only get to see it through a haze of alcohol while attending a concert but I was strictly sober on my visit, maybe that it why my visit was a little less enjoyable. Thanks

Had lunch in Browns bar and food was delicious. Nice views and try the slane whisky if you like Jameson u will love it.

Been here 3 times. 98 for the verve,2001 for U2 the first show and 2002 for the Stereophonics. Great venue for concerts. Bit of a walk but worth it

Visited for the Santa experience, not worth the money and wouldn't go back. Food was heavy and greasy. However the house is attractive. A long way to go to match Malahide Castle facilities though.

Lovely atmosphere. Take-away coffee portion is very small, the cups only being filled about 2/3rds.

It's really worth going inside and getting a tour of the rooms of Slane Castle. The bedrooms are still in use (by guests) so they seem a bit more modern. But the main halls and dining room - and the spectacular ballroom - are all just how you would imagine somewhere like this to look!
